Richard Dale Huffstutter

Richard "Rick" Dale Huffstutter, devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2022 at the age of 73 at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center, surrounded by his loving family. In his battle with illness in recent years he exemplified how to face life's challenges with courage, grace and an unwavering sense of humor.

Born on March 3, 1949 in Detroit, MI, Rick spent most of his childhood horsing around with his older brother and cousins, eventually earning himself the nickname "Rough Stuff." His antics leave behind innumerable stories that his family will cherish for years to come.

An avid sports fan and concert-goer, Rick attended countless events in his life accumulating an impressive collection of memorabilia. His love of sports and live music, however, never compared to the adoration he had for each member of his family, both biological and family of the heart. Rick never missed an opportunity to brag about the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and was known for his elaborate Facebook posts to honor every holiday and milestone.

Rick spent most of his career in the world of finance where he began many of his longest friendships, but what he really enjoyed was using his time off to travel the world and visit family with, in his words, his "amazing wife, Kathy." More recently, Rick served as House Chairman for the Elks Lodge #2159 in Largo, a position that gave him purpose and meaning in his retired years.

Rick is survived by his heartbroken wife of 21 years, Kathy, biological daughters Christina Estes and Stephanie Savarese, as well as Brandie Pry, Elizabeth DeFrancisis, Chris Calvisi, Nick Jones, Jeff Estes and Nick Savarese who he was also honored to call his children. Additionally, Rick leaves behind his brother Ron Huffstutter, sister Nancy Obradovich and beloved grandchildren, Naomi and Dominic who were the light of his life, as well as many friends and extended relatives.

A memorial to honor Rick's life will be held on Saturday, August 20 at 11:30 am at the Largo Elks Lodge, 810 16th Ave SE in Largo, FL.
