In loving memory of Fr Richard, a wonderful man, who will always be in the hearts of the Kennedy family

Fr Richard was first and foremost a man of faith, but he revelled in the good things of God's creation: family, friends, theatre, literature and good food. Mass was offered for the repose of his soul at Sacred Heart Cathedral Wellington, New Zealand today. The celebrant was Fr John O'Neill SM who fittingly is a Cambridge graduate.

Fr Richard conducted our wedding service, with his spaniel, Molly, sitting by the altar. One of thousands of affirming memories that so many people will have of him.

Richard has been a dear - and forgiving - friend for 42 years. I will miss his memory of people and events, his humour and his guidance.

Richard was a very dear friend, mentor, and brother priest to me, and close to my family over 55 years. Many of the friendships we made at Cambridge in the years we shared at the Fisher House Chaplaincy have lasted till now. I am grateful to Richard in so many ways, especially for his deep Christian faith and the way he held together both his loyalty and critique of the Catholic Church.
