Richard Paul Janzer, Chief Master Sgt. USAF Ret., 88 years old, a 44 year resident of Apple Valley, CA, passed away November 13, 2017 at St. Mary Medical Center. He was born in Milwaukee, WI to Gustave and Ester Janzer on August 2, 1929. He attended Marquette University before he enlisted in 1947 in the Army Air Corps, later known as the U.S. Air Force where he had a distinguished 30 year career, serving in England, the Belgian Congo, Wheelus AFB, Tripoli Libya, South Korea, Danang South Vietnam and Thailand. He received numerous medals and awards including the Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Pedie Janzer, and is survived by their 4 children and their spouses, Steven and Kathy, Phillip and Debbie, Geri and Ted, Patti and Russ. As a Grand Knight, 4th degree, in the Knights of Columbus and parishioner of Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Church, he devoted many years of charitable service to such outreaches as The Lord's Table, to feed the homeless. After his retirement from the Air Force he pursued careers in the restaurant business and taught at Victor Valley College. He is survived by his 4 children, 10 grandchildren, Jacleen, Mandie, Richard, Justin, Meghan, Kelly, Nick, Derek, Ryan and Jonathan; 4 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Grayson, Sadie and Brooklyn. A special note of heart felt thanks goes out to Geri Tsakalos, his daughter, for the many years of self-less caring she provided to her father. She was the keeper of "The Binder" documenting all of his many appointments for doctors, etc.Funeral services will be at Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Church on Monday, November 20, 2017. Visitation at 10 am, Rosary at 10:30 am, Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery with full military honors. Donations to Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Church in lieu of flowers is appreciated.

My dear Uncle Dick, to his children (my cousins),and their families..We have a lifetime of many family reunions and many happy memories .As I miss him now and think of him and my Auntie Pedie often, I gain solace knowing that they are together again in heaven. Thanks be to God!
