Chris and family,
We are so sorry to hear about the death of Rich. I know what beautiful music you made together, in many more ways than one! We certainly will miss his being at Chautauqua. We hold you and Christiane and Jesse in our prayers!

I was very sorry to hear of Rich's passing away. A longtime friend whom I grew up with in grade school and high school but had not seen in quite a while. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

I am a cabaret singer in Atlanta and Rich added so much to my band....whether it was a small trio or larger group of musicians, Robert Strickland, my musical director, always chose the best, and Rich was at the top of our list for every gig. My thoughts and prayers are with Rich's family and friends.

We will miss Rich so very, very much. He was the heart and soul of the 9:45 Jazz Service at Redeemer, and he spread God's word with his music every Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.

Many years ago, Rich Jones provided lessons to each of my twin daughters, in middle school. It was then, they gained a valued skill of sight reading, although not the original intent of the lessons. Over time my girls gained a deeper appreciation of his skill of playing along and transposing on the fly, while demonstrating the correct sound and technique. Throughout all this he never was impatient nor short with their accomplishments. In the end, one of these girls obtained a scholarship leading to a music educational degree. In addition, both of these girls have contributed to playing in the Cobb Wind Symphony as charter members and the next generation of our grandchildren are emerging in music, at this time. Rich will no doubt, live on in generations to come and I am so grateful to have known him briefly and appreciative for what he has provided for a lifetime. We will remember him always!

Rodger and I were shocked to learn of Rich's passing. We have such fond memories--establishing the STM band, leading horses at kids' birthday parties & being in the pit at every show in town. We listen to our Gentle Rain CDs and think of you all.-Liz, Rodger, Claire & Catherine Brown

My first experiences as a musician were influenced greatly as Mr. Richard Jones was my Clarinet Teacher while a student in Marietta, GA. My love of music grew through his teachings. I lost touch through the years and was so thankful to have both Him and his wife play their beautiful music at my wedding reception in 1996. His life had changed as much as mine. Single to married with children. We send our sympathies to the Jones' family. Many people feel sadness over this huge loss !

Rich you were our first call for a gig. It was for more than just your musical talent and ability, it was for the special human being that you were and the passion that you brought with you to the band stand.We will miss you friend!

Although I haven't seen Richard since 8th grade graduation, he remains in my fond memories of childhood. My sympathies.

My deepest sympathy to Rich's family. While college years are short and fleeting the friendships we make leave an everlasting imprint. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Rich! He was such a wonderful person. I always considered him as one of my very best friends.

Rich's beautiful, incredible music will always live on. It was his passion and every note was played with the deepest expression of heart and soul. It was that eternal connection of love for music that he gave us – that will forever be remembered.

Rich never wavered in his commitment to musical excellence; or ever failed to honor Christ with every note he played. I heard him execute countless complicated time signatures and never ,ever, heard him hit a wrong note.
Our lives were geatly enriched by the gifts that Rich so generously shared---Godspeed, my brother.

While not having the good fortunate to see Rich since back in our WIU days, his spirit and personality imprint is as fresh and present as if I saw him just the other day. Big, kind heart. Expansively contagious positive outlook. A very fun person with which to spend time. My sympathies to those who knew him. May he stay in all our hearts.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
