Richard L. "Butch" Legacy 1946 - 2016
WATERVILLE - Richard Lloyd "Butch" Legacy, 69, of Waterville, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica.
He was born December 24, 1946, in Utica, a son of the late Lloyd and Kathleen Towns Legacy, and received his education in Oriskany Falls Schools. On August 20, 1993, in Waterville, he married the former Audrey L. Richardson. Butch worked for Henderson-Johnson Roofing, Austin Powder of Oriskany Falls, for many years, and most recently, Hamilton College, for over 21 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church of Oriskany Falls and the oldest member of the Sons of the American Legion, Kelley-Phillips Post #569 of Oriskany Falls.
Surviving are his wife, Audrey; his stepchildren, Jeff Doliver, of New York Mills, and Stephen Doliver and his fiancee, Crystal, of New Hartford; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Sandra Herring, of CO, Pat Hynes, of Waterville, and Dawn and Tony Schenk, of Solsville; two brothers, Ted Legacy, of Oriskany Falls, and Brian Legacy, of Utica; step-grandchildren, David, Ryan and Darrin Doliver, Lindsay Doliver and Joey Williamson; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Bill Hennessey.
In keeping with Butch's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be private and interment in St. Bernard's Parish Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
