Richard Leiterman

LEITERMAN _ Richard, born 1935, in South Porcupine, Ontario, passed away in Vancouver, July 14th, 2005, of complications from the rare disease Amyloidosis. He is survived by his wife Margaret; son Mark; daughter Rachel; and granddaughter Clara. Brother to Elaine, Douglas, Phyllis, and Catherine. A pioneer Canadian filmmaker and cinematographer, director and teacher. He had a forty-five year career shooting dramas, documentaries and TV movies. A passionate teacher, he recently retired from teaching at Sheridan College. An active volunteer on behalf of his craft, a union organizer and supporter, he loved sailing solo on the Pacific. A public celebration of his life will be held in Vancouver on Saturday, July 23th, at 2:00 pm, at the Vancouver Rowing Club with a private family memorial to follow.
