I knew him as Col. Dick Lemon. I very proudly served under his command at England A.F.B., Louisiana, in the 80's and early 90's. There was rarely a high ranking officer in the Air Force that didn't care about politics, but always doing the right thing every time. Sometimes doing the right thing wasn't so popular, sadly. That was Col. Dick Lemon...do it right if you're going to do it at all! If his kids and/or grandkids were to ever read this posting, I would want them to know that he served with incredible honor, integrity and bravery. He had no fear! He proudly served our country, cared for those of us under his command, and he loved his family more than words could describe! Rest in peace good friend! (I know this is late in coming...just stumbled upon this site) ;-)

Dick and I flew A-7s at Myrtle Beach AFB, SC in the early 70's. We were in the Green Demon squadron, the 356th. Dick was the only guy I've ever played golf with who wouldn't use a tee. On the tee box he'd just throw the ball down, pull out his driver, and smack the ball about 300 yards. What a great guy and a true gentleman. I'm glad I had a chance to see him again this summer at the Myrtle Beach A-7 pilots 35 year reunion at the Air Force Museum.

Dear Trish and Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Dick was a wonderful man, and will be missed by many people. My prayers go out to you.

I remember Dick when he was living in Kingfisher. He and my brother were very good friends. We lived down the alley from his family. I would play jacks with his sisters.
He was a very special person.
