Just found out about Rich's untimely death. I am personally and professionally saddened by the loss of this great man who was dedicated to fighting the opioid epidemic that has plagued society. Every time that I spoke with him he always had time for my questions and never acted as if I was bothering him. Quite the opposite he acted like as if we had been friends for 20 years. Rich you will be missed by this officer, and this man, who had the awesome opportunity to get to know you a little bit. Thanks for making a difference in so many peoples lives including my students and staff. May your giving soul rest in peace and may God watch over your family as they grieve the loss of such a caring and dedicated father/husband.

To the Levitt's,
I am very sad to hear of "Dicky's" passing.
My early childhood was spent at the home on Oxford Road, playing and swimming and having tuna sandwiches on the porch (thank you Virginia!) How fortunate was I to have been in that company.
Some of my fondest memories are of Dicky and Russ Testo and the pool.
I did not know Richard as an adult but it is clear he was a much loved man.
He is part of my fabric and I'm very sad for his passing.
My condolences.

I've only known Rich for about 2 years working with him in Overdose Prevention. I considered him a friend and am a better person for knowing him. Condolences to the family. I will miss him greatly.

Dear Barbara and the Levitt Family,
Words cannot express the loss we feel with Richard's passing. Richard was a beacon of light to everyone who met him. From day one at the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteer Appreciation luncheon until even so recently as last week, we spoke often and connected in a most special way. His character and passion was insurmountable. We at the Health Department were fortunate and blessed to have him in our lives and as a very active part of our public health response. Even more than that, he was a great friend. Thank you for sharing part of him with all of us.

Dear Barbara and the Levitt Family,
I got to know Rich recently through his work with the FBI HOPE initiative and saw him speak on more than one occasion. His passion and dedication was immense and a true inspiration. His passing is a tragic personal loss for you, but is also a loss for the greater Pittsburgh community in the fight against the drug epidemic. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing. I think of you daily and am saying prayers for Rich and Jon, and asking God to help heal your hearts.
My deepest condolences, Emily Lyons

Bobbi, Jane, Lauren and Family
Rich (Dick) was a role model to me growing up and I am very sad he is gone. I have many, many, happy memories, with all the things he taught my brother Brian and I.
Rich and his father Dr Levitt were from the same mold, strong personalities that you wanted to be around.
I have spent the last days reminiscing of the great times spent with Rich and the rest of the Levitt family.
My thoughts are with you all and if there is anything I can do to help please let me know.
Love you all

Got to know Rich during our Citizen's Academy class this past spring and then again with his wife this summer during our DC trip. May his important message live on through the FBI Hope Initiative. From one IT guy to another, he will be sadly missed.

About three weeks ago Richard spoke to my daughter's 11th grade health class about addiction. She was so moved by him and told us all about the experience. He reached out to hold her hand. It was such a meaningful moment for her that I found Richard on Facebook and sent him a message. He replied instantly with details of his mission and advice to "hug" my daughter. He also said that his son helped many people and he hoped to do the same. He definitely fulfilled that mission. My condolences to your family.
