Richard MacDonald Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 2, 2019.
Richard Allen MacDonald, a wonderful father, loving husband, coach, unforgettable son and brother, died unexpectedly on November 2, 2019 at the age of 52. Rick is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Luce MacDonald; and his three children, Tyler MacDonald, Ryan MacDonald, and Makenzie MacDonald, his parents; Diane and Douglas MacDonald; his sister, Leigh Savoie and her husband Craig of Tyngsboro, brother-in-law Christopher Luce of Cicero NY, and many nieces and nephews. Rick was born in Lowell, MA on April 2, 1967. He was a graduate of Chelmsford High School in 1986, and has worked in sales with Martignetti for the last 15 years. On September 3, 1994, Rick married Ann Marie, his other half and secret admirer all through high school. On October 7, 1995 Rick and Ann Marie welcomed their first beloved child, Tyler and were blessed with two more children, Ryan on March 28, 1997, and Makenzie on November 20, 1998. Rick was a devoted father, Boston Red-Sox fan, and coffee ice-cream fanatic. He loved car rides with his dogs, helping Santa on Christmas Eve, and was an amateur golf player. He was known as the guy to randomly give people a hug, even if he did not know them, and his dancing skills were extraordinary. He was also a man of love and respect, he loved anyone he met, greeted everyone with kindness, and believed every person you meet in life is for a reason. He was a social man, the life of the party, and always getting into "innocent" shenanigans. The memories he has created for family, friends, and coworkers will be everlasting and will be a reminder of his infectious spirit that still remains with everyone. Rick will be deeply missed by all of the lives he's walked into and touched. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday November 9 at the People's Congregational Church on 56 South Main St., in Ashburnham, MA. Pastor Dan Allen, Rick's cousin, will officiate. Afterwards, the Celebration of Rick MacDonald's life will be held at Townsend Ridge Country Club at 3:00 at 40 Scales Lane in Townsend, MA, where food and drinks will be served. Photos, memories and love will be shared in his honor. We encourage you to share your favorite pictures and memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rick's favorite charity; the Boston Red Sox sponsored Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.jimmyfund.org/gift. Rick has always been the Red Sox's number one fan and has always treasured his time coaching and mentoring children.

Our ache hearts at the passing of such an amazing man. A man who took the time to call my children every December as Santa, who called my husband every week just to say hello and make sure they stayed in touch, a man whose eyes truly twinkled with spirit.
