We were close in the early '80s having married sisters. Despite the time and distance between this relationship I still loved him like a brother. It was fortunate that we got together with our children a few years ago, renewed our family ties, and had a lot of laughs. As a friend Richard exemplified the qualities of a great parent - he was consistent and positive. It is hard to lose Richard when he still had so much happiness to share, but his loss is tempered by his gifts of love to all he left behind.
