Dearest Maddy family:

I will think of Dick every time I take out the viola he made for me so lovingly. His legacy lives in a part of my soul forever!

I had to pleasure of growing up right across the street from Mr.Maddy on Cinder Rdl I remember attending church with them and having the pleasure of going to his house. He was a wonderful man and will always have a special place in my heart.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Maddy last summer as we daily rode the bus to Biderman. I was enriched by my meeting him.

Wendy, family, and the legions who loved Dick: A couple of times each year, Dick would call me to talk about camp, violins, and the people he found most interesting. I loved seeing him at alumni weekends. He was a symbol of all that is good about Interlochen.

Many fond memories of wonderful Dick at Interlochen. Then at U of M, where we were in the same piano class, neither of us particularly talented in that way. At alumni weekends, the Grand Rapids "fearsome foursome" (Sharon King, Diana Farran, Phyllis Koslow) became a fivesome when Dick was with us. Love you, Dickie Bird.

Dick was an enterprising, soft spoken man with a heart of gold. He was always thinking of his next project or possibility. I enjoyed our chats together.

Until we meet again,

May the wind be at your back,

May the sun shine on your face, and

May the Lord hold you in the palms of his hands forever.

We are thankful we had the opportunity to meet both you and your father Wendy. Our condolances go out to all members of your family during this time of need. Should there be anything we can do to help you, please feel free to call.

The Cherups,

Timothy, Janice & Dakota.

Thank you so much for your kind remembrances of Dad, Phyllis (Skippy)! I shall never forget your wonderful mother, Skipper Bourziel, our super junior girls

head for so long, and your kind and gentle father! Dad fought bravely to the end, and never did retire - he was active to the last second of his life, doing something! Love and hugs, Wendy, April and David

Mr. Maddy,

We will miss you very much, especially visiting you at your house with Bonkers and the chickens. Gabe feels proud to have known you and will think of you when he plays his violin.

Love,

The Morcote Family (Vicki, Gabe, Elena, and Marco)

I will miss you greatly. You are a gentle man, and an icon of the Interlochen Community. Selfless, talented, quietly working in the String Instrument Shop, repairing strings that belonged to campers and faculty. That is how I will remember you!

With fondness,

"Skippy" Bourziel

daughter of Skipper & Arnie (with whom you studied piano!)

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
