Richard Malcomson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2024.
Richard D. Malcomson, aged 77, passed away on October 22, 2024, in Sarasota, FL. Born on March 25, 1947, Richard was known for his vibrant spirit, robust sense of humor, and his deep devotion to family and friends. He was a cherished son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who made a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Richard graduated from Raritan High School, where he began to shape a lifelong passion for anything fast, leading to a fulfilling career centered around cars and boats.

Throughout his life, Richard was a hard worker and a loving family man, often referred to as a great dad and "Pop Pop" a title that he cherished. His ability to light up a room and his love of telling jokes will always be remembered by those who knew him. He spent many joyful hours tinkering with hot rods, listening to doo wop and acapella music, and cherishing the moments spent with his family and friends.

Richard is survived by Louise Malcomson, the mother of his children; daughters Bridget Colcu and Sherry Malcomson; son-in-law Harun Colcu; grandchildren Brooklyn, Brady, and Lilly; sister Sheila LaGreca; along with many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard E. and Mary Malcomson.

A service to celebrate Richard's life will be held at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Sarasota on November 15, 2024. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Richard's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, honoring his compassionate spirit. Richard's legacy of laughter, love, and the joy he brought to life will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him.

Sorry to hear of Richard´s passing. We went to Raritan H S. It´s kinda weird what we remember, but my memory takes me back to the day he put his arm through the Airport Bowling Lanes side door, he got so cut up, it was terrible.

I met Rich at work and introduced him to my father because they both loved cars. I´m glad we got to know him outside of work and enjoyed the car shows together. We miss him so much and will cherish his memory forever.

My earliest playmate,so full of mischief & fun .As we got older we'd have laughing contests. Although we didn't see each other often as we aged, there was always a silly special bond. between us. Earth will be a little heavier without smile! Love you cuz.

My dear friend of 47 years, you will be sadly missed. I will never forget our friendship and the opportunity you afforded me at a very young age. A great boss who showed us to work hard but also have fun. He was loved by all who encountered his kindness and sense of humor. I was so blessed to see you during your last days, rest in peace my friend....we all love you!!!
