Richard McKinnon, age 58, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 13, 2013. He was the owner of Walter A. McKinnon Associates, Structural and Consulting Engineers and past president and active member of Weymouth Rotary. Rich is survived by his wife of 37 years Barbara (Spangenberger) McKinnon, his two daughters Karen McKinnon of Dorchester and Laura McKinnon of Weymouth, his father Walter A. McKinnon of Weymouth, his brother Wally McKinnon of Braintree and his two sisters Leslie Lydon of Bridgewater and Nancy McKinnon of Stetson, ME. He also leaves his father in law Eugene Spangenberger of Hobe Sound, FL, his brother and sister-in-law Joe and Patty Spangenberger of Scituate, his brother-in-law Paul Spangenberger of Sabattus, ME and many nieces and nephews. Richard is predeceased by his mother Dorothy McKinnon and his mother-in-law Janet Spangenberger. Rich enjoyed playing war games and was an avid Boston sports fan. Visiting hours were at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Service, 134 Pleasant St., S. Weymouth on Wednesday, October 16 and were immediately followed by the funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Richs memory to the Weymouth Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 52, Weymouth, MA 02190. I am so sorry to hear of Rich's passing. I have worked with Rich for many years on several different projects and he was always helpful. I will keep a memory of his smile as he always had one.
