Condolences to Mr. Richard Meeker's family,
Mr. Meeker has been a part of my life since I was a teenager. I would visit him and his wife Shirley with my parents (Larry and Bettyann Hall) at his home and at his yacht in Portsmouth. My Dad joined his band 41 years ago as the pianist and every opportunity permitting to attend, I would go to see the group perform. Mr. Meeker loved to interact with the audience and make jokes. Mr. Meeker and my Dad stayed good friends and band mates until my Dad was unable to play with the band. Their bond was the love of music, their ability to tell jokes, and make others laugh. My fondest memories are when his band was performing at Ocean View, and I would bring my family (Odyseas, Cynthia, and Jason) to watch, listen, dance, and sing with them to songs like "What a Wonderful World" and "God Bless America". Mr. Meeker even allowed our teenage children the opportunity to perform their music during the group's breaks. It was so nice to see Mr. Meeker on March 8, 2019 when we celebrated my Dad's life. I truly am sorry for your loss and I want your family to know I too am sad that he is no longer here entertaining us with his gift of music or making us laugh. May his memory be eternal and may Mr. Meeker and my Dad continue to jam together and praise God in heaven.
With deepest sympathy,
Elizabeth Housianitis

To the family of Richard Meeker: He was my electrician and saved my life. I was having serious electrical problems and called him to check and see if he could find the problem. I had already had 2 other electricians look and they could find nothing. He came down and had his assistant check here and there and could not find anything, The next morning at 7am, he called and told me he had been up all night but thinks he know what is wrong, I called Dominion Power and told them what was going on. He made me evacuate for safety. The tech told me there were 2 things that could be wrong and the second option was to abandon my home. He checked the 1st option and thank God Richard was right..He even joked that I should buy his house since he had a generator for backup. I will miss him very much. He loved to play the keyboard I had in the den and I wanted him to take it but he would not. Said he would rather come down and play. He didn't and I am sorry. Dorothy Alegria
