I called Dr. Meltzer´s office today and learned of his passing. I was so shocked and deeply saddened over the news. He was an amazing dentist and so incredibly understanding about fears with dental work. He will be missed.

I still think of Dr. Meltzer every day when I floss my teeth... he used to emphasize that "flossing goes with brushing!" His lovely voice and cheerful greetings and teachings will be with me always! RIP Dr. Meltzer and don´t worry I´m flossing!

I was shocked and saddened by the news that Dr. Meltzer had died. I was his patient for over 20 years. I had bad dental trauma incidents before I met him, and after that first appointment, always looked forward to my next appointment. He went out of his way to support my needs. I was never anxious when I got there. He greeted me with a smile and hug every time. He was one of the kindest people I know. I've been searching ever since then to find a kind, caring sedation dentist. Not easy.

I was introduced to Dr. Meltzer 30 years ago by a friend. Professionally he was certainly accomplished and he and his office has taken great care of me over the years. I always enjoyed speaking with him at the end of a visit; and thought he was a very kind man, he will certainly be missed. Best to his family. Sincerely Reginald Kidd III

Dr. Meltzer has been my dentist for the past 18yrs. I just found out today through a mailer from the dental practice. I am totally devastated and feel grief for the family as well. He was the best in his field, was charming with a great bed side manner. I will miss him singing while working on my teeth and his positive attitude. He is irreplaceable. Farewell Dr. Meltzer.

I am so very sorry to the family for their loss of Dr. Meltzer. I did not know until day when I had an appointment at his office. I was in shock and wondered why I was not told sooner! I had not been notified by email or read the news. I have been a patient for many years. He was so kind and did a fantastic service to me in his profession. I will miss him very much! God bless his family. May Richard rest in peace!

It’s not often that a Dentist walked in singing a song that their patient had written... but that’s how Dr Meltzer always greeted me. With a song and a prayer from one of my CDs. Over the years I’d given him most all of my catalogue and he honored me with his glorious voice each and every time. We joked we laughed and when I went from Cantor to Rabbi he always called me by my title in the office. When I was suffering he checked in on me by phone personally when my children had their molars extracted he called me to check on them. When the pandemic hit he called to tell me he’d be there when everything got back to normal. What a loss for the world... The most tragic part of this story is that I had a new CD in hand today as I anticipated seeing him after almost a year of pandemic and was given the news by his dental assistant as I prepared for my teeth cleaning. The look in her eyes as she realized I didn’t know already was devastating. I upset everyone there by sobbing in shocked silence as they cried too and apologized deeply that I had not been notified by email or read the news. Doc Meltzer was and is a righteous man who’s memory is seared into my heart. I pray he is singing and teaching my prayers to the angels. Rest In Peace Doc. I will miss your serenades.

Dick was an optimistic, big-hearted family man who adored his grandchildren and put a smile on the face of everyone he met. We will miss his positive attitude and warm hugs at the many family events we have attended with him over the years. From all accounts, he lived a blessed life and has a legacy to be proud of. Helene, Kim, Evan, Jason, Fara and the Melzer family, Paul and I wish you peace in the coming days. We hope your wonderful memories of Dick will be of comfort.

We are so sorry for your loss. Dick wasn't one of the nicest people I ever knew, he was actually THE nicest. He genuinely cared for all his friends, colleagues, patients, and all the people in their extended circles. He always asked about my family with genuine interest remembering all my childrens names and facts about them. Dick had a positive impact on everyone who was blessed to have known him. He will be missed enormously.

I am devastated. Dr. Meltzer was my dentist but also a friend. He was so kind and sensitive to my fears and needs and very understanding to my financial situation.... I am jewish too so we bonded over that. I am so saddened. I wish I could have said a proper goodbye to him.... given him a hug goodbye. I wish this was untrue. I am so so angry at god for this. Gone too soon.... so so upset. What a wonderful wonderful man. Life is unfair. I wish he knew how much he meant to me

Dick was one of the nicest people i have ever known. He was a fellow dentist, fellow member of alpha omega and a friend to me and my family from the first time i attended an alpha omega meeting. His generosity to the hebrew home and to all the endevours our local chapter of alpha omega took on is unmatched. He always had a smile and i mean always and was always there for advise and comradery. I cherished the few times we played golf at woodmont together. I wish only that i had one more chance to tell him and helene how appreciative stacy and i are for all the love and support they have bestowed on my family. years younger, dick was the man i kept trying to emulate, confident, caring, competent, loving , great family man, great friend. Dick may you rest in peace, yoir memory will always be for a blessing.
