Richard John Miazga, lovingly known as Rich, has embarked on his final touchdown on November 15, 2023, in
Moore Haven, Florida, at the age of 74. Born on April 30, 1949, in
Blue Island, Illinois, Rich was a true team player throughout his life. He leaves behind a winning legacy as a devoted husband to Theresa (Terri) Miazga a cherished brother to Robert (Judy) Miazga and a loving uncle of seventeen nieces and nephews. Joining him on the sidelines of eternity are his parents, Charles and Mary (Wojtas) Miazga, his sister Janet Kraft, his father-in-law Ermanno DiTola, his sister-in-law Kazuko Miazga, and his brothers-in-law David DiTola and Gary Kraft.
Rich was a true MVP of charisma and charm, never shying away from making new friends. He had a knack for turning strangers into teammates with his fun-loving spirit. He would always say to his brother I have so many (girlfriends) at the Eagles. When it came to sports, Rich was the ultimate fan, especially when it came to his beloved Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He was their number one cheerleader, never missing a day of the Bears' training camp in
Bourbonnais, Illinois. Off the field, Rich had a rhythm in his step and could dance his way into anyone's heart. He also enjoyed casting his line into the waters for a relaxing fishing session or revving his engine at the US30 Drag Strip. Rich's dedication to his community was unmatched, as he selflessly volunteered at the Amvets, Harry Chapin food pantry, and Moore Haven fairgrounds. And let's not forget his service in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970, where he truly exemplified the meaning of "Semper Fi."
Rich attended Fenger High School in
Chicago, Illinois, where he honed his skills both on and off the field. After graduation, he embarked on a career as a diesel mechanic at Alice Chalmers, where he tackled challenges with finesse and precision.
When it came to matters of the heart, Rich found solace and inspiration at the First United Methodist Church of Moore Haven. His faith was a guiding force in his life, reminding him to always keep the team spirit alive.
Off the playing field, Rich had a roster of hobbies that kept him entertained. He was the ultimate Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs superfan, cheering them on with unmatched enthusiasm. Rich was also a proud member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 4523 in
Moore Haven, Florida, showing his allegiance to the flock. Additionally, he held a lifetime membership in both the Amvets and the Disabled American Veterans, always ready to support his fellow servicemen and women.
A celebration of Rich's extraordinary life will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 12:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Moore Haven, located at 300 Avenue L,
Moore Haven, Florida. It'll be a game day like no other, filled with laughter, memories, and a few tears of joy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 4523 or the Harry Chapin Food Bank in
Fort Myers, FL. Let's keep the team spirit alive by supporting causes that were close to Rich's heart.
As the final whistle blows, Rich will be dearly missed by his teammates in life-his wife, family, friends, and all those who had the honor of playing alongside him. May he find eternal rest and continue cheering on his loved ones from the sidelines of heaven.
