There are 2 memories with Uncle Rit that will always stay with me. Big family breakfasts at his house on Olean street. Piles of pancakes and sausage and eggs with all of the cousins sitting around the table. As we get older it gets harder and harder for us all to get together like that and it makes those older memories all the more fond. Everytime I have a big breakfast where I invite all of the family over, I always think of him and I think to myself that i would've made him proud. The other memory is from when I was a kid and he showed me his hand. We were in the back yard by the grill and there was something on his hand, a bruise or a cut or something like that, and I asked him how he got it. He told me that he was playing with firecrackers and didn't let go fast enough, and I shouldn't play with firecrackers because I could blow my hand off. I was only 8 or 9 at the time and it was enough to keep me away from fireworks, at least for a little while.
We're going to miss you Uncle Rit. You're in a better place now. Don't worry, my dad will show you around up there.
