Aunt Bev, Paula and boys,
As I reflect back over the years, I have many fond memories of our families. The one thing that stands out to me is how our family is always there for everyone. Uncle Dick was our biggest advocate of goodwill. I feel very blessed to have been his Niece!

To Beverly and family,
We know how hard it is to lose a husband and father, and send our deepest sympathies. Even though these few lines can never fill the void that you and your family are feeling at this time, we hope that they may comfort you just a little.
We were so upset when we finally found out about Rich Jr. He was a great young man and a wonderful friend not only to Kenny, but to or family as well. Both Rich Sr. and Jr. always had a smile on their faces. We will keep you all in our prayers.

I have a lot of happy memories with Dick and the family! So many birthdays, so many celebrations. He was so easy to talk too, he knew so much about a lot of subjects! May God rest his soul. I am sure that Richard is waiting for him. He probably missed his father's BBQ sauce!

Again we face one of life’s most confusing times. A time of so many feelings, sadness as we miss their physical presence, happiness as we know they are reuniting with not just those other loved ones we have already lost, but with our savior and creator too. We experience laughter as we sit and recall silly and fun times and shed tears as we also acknowledge how lucky we were to have taken part in their lives. But in our hearts and memories you will for ever live.

We love you dad/grandpa

Uncle Dick was man who didn't know what a stranger was, nor was he a stranger to anyone. You only had to be in his presence for a few minutes before you felt as if he were a lifelong friend.

He was a man whose mind was never idle, always searching, yearnin’ for learnin’. A man devoted to his family, completely loyal to his friends. As he has moved forward into the eternal energy source, those of us here for the short ride will miss his love and friendship dearly. Those sharing the eternal ride with him will be fortunate to get a word in edgewise! And we can remember him forever as the loving, caring, giving man he was.

We are thinking of you and your family at this time, and wish we could be with you. We thank God for sharing Dick with us during his lifetime here on earth. May he rest in peace. We love you.

He did have corny jokes, BUT those corny jokes always made us smile... and of course who can forget his special BBQ sauce? Richard Jr. would rant and rave about his dad and his sauce and we're glad we had the chance to meet him and become family. Although he will be dearly missed, we take comfort in knowing he will be reunited with Richard Jr. May God watch over them and their families.

Hi my name is Luke Shafer. My Aunt Chrisey and Uncle Joey took me to Grandpa Dicks house this past summer. We had lots of good food, fun and all the big people (adults) heard "funny" stories from Dick. Everyone laughed alot. It was the first time I met Dick in person, with my Grandma yaya, and Mom. The best part of the day after dinner we had ice cream...Dick and I had ice cream twice.

To my "FAVORITE" Aunt…..

I grieve for your loss and, as so many others do, will also miss the wonderful husband you and your family has been able to enjoy for so many years.

Uncle Dick was always so gracious and a joy to be near. I am so sorry that we never got to be closer, but the distance in miles was never that far in our hearts.

You, and yours are always in my mind and the spirit of Uncle Dick will always be with you and the wonderful family that he gave you.

He has given you so much to be proud of and to love.

I also love you so very much.

As always,
"Thinking of You"

Memories will should never leave. We saw John Thomas, jump 7," for a new World Record in the High Jump, at the Compton Relays. He asked me if I wanted some lunch, while I was working for him at the butcher shop. After work I owed him more than I made. Mom (Shirley, his sister) talked to Dick, and I did learn a lesson. Another time he called my office in Hollywood pretending to be some womens husband. A few minutes later I heard the elevator doors open and someone yelling my name. "I going to get you" "you mess with my wife", I had no exit, I hid under my office desk. . .it was uncle Dick. Never sit next to him at a Holiday Dinner, Hear how many Turkeys he sold and the HUGS, the hugs in the most inapporiate times while with a girlfriend in High School. Now, what I would give for just one more hug. Those are the memories I have, plus thousands more. I will make time to recall more of those memories, I don't want to lose them soon.

Thank you for being there Uncle Dick.

Aloha

Dennis

It's been fun in recent years to reconnect with a schoolmate of almost 60 years ago. Dick's warm and friendly attitude was always present. I especially came to enjoy his poetry of recent years. Blessings on family members who will treasure the good times.

Andy Martin keeps a list of the names of the guys from our high school football years. Dick's name will now be moved from the top to the list of those departed, but know that his name and legacy will not be forgotten and our motto of "friends forever" is alive until the last one. RIP, Dick.

Dad:
We fought alot at times, but if I never said it, I always loved you and admired you so much. I can't beleive your not here to tell us your stories or your corny jokes that really made me laugh. I was so proud of you and I know you fought the fight at the hospital and your thoughts were always with us, to make sure we were going to be ok. We will, but it won't be the same.
Your loving daughter,
Paula

P.S. Give Grandpa and Grandma and Rich a big kiss from me and here is one for you. MUH!
