Richard Dustin Nerren

Funeral services for Richard Dustin Nerren, 19, of Huntington will be held Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Dave Sarver and Brother Dwayne Greenwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Oddfellows Cemetery. Dustin was born April 10, 1990 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Sarah (Wilkie) and Richard Nerren, and died Friday, December 11, 2009 in a Houston hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Dustin was a lifetime resident of Huntington and was a 2009 Graduate of Huntington High School. He had been an active participant for the last five years in the Relay For Life with his family members, supporting his grandmother Liz, a Breast Cancer Survivor. Dustin loved to play football and enjoyed fishing with his grandfather, LA. He was a member of the Brother's Keeper Church. Dustin believed in helping others. He was attending Angelina College to become a nurse, while enrolled in Phlebotomy classes to start in January. He was able to continue this dream by helping numerous others through his organ donation. Dustin and Kayla (the love of his life) are in Heaven with his sister, Christy. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Sarah and Marvin Hlavaty of Huntington; father, Rickey Nerren of Huntington; brothers, Henry Nerren and Justin Nerren, both of Huntington; stepbrothers, Kenneth Hlavaty and wife Angie, Kevin Hlavaty and wife Tara, all of Tampa Bay, Florida and Marvin Hlavaty, Jr. and wife Beth of Zavalla; stepsisters, Karen Hlavaty of Houston and Kathy Atwood and husband Mike of Geary, Oklahoma; grandparents, LA and Liz Wilkie of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Christy Nerren; grandparents, Henry Lee and Georgia Mae Nerren; and great-grandmother, Elsie Wilkie. Pallbearers will be Thumper Hines, Jon Davis, Kory Clark, Austin Bruce, Rolo Ordaz and Spenser Kirk. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Nerren, Justin Nerren, Marvin Hlavaty, Jr. and Kenneth Hlavaty. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Carroway Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors.
