I am also from the Polite chat room, was asked by a woman who went to school with Smokey (as we called Dick) to help get him into our chat room. From that time on we enjoyed his visits and chats. Smokey will be missed by his friends on line, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Sue, and the rest of his loving family.

We were blessed to have met and chatted with Dick (smokey on line)over the past few years in the Polite chatroom and in frequent emails. He was always a sweet and gentle person and we have missed him since his illness took him away from his keyboard. Our condolences to Sue and the family.

Sue, I pray God's peace for you and your family at this time. Always knew I'd get a good welcome and great hand shake and smile from Dick at Bethesda. May you know the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

I remember sleeping over at your house with Dave and playing Hulk,Spiderman or Star Wars. I am very sorry for your loss and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. It was a honor to know Dick and be on the same Fire Department that he was a part of. His involvement in the EAP showed his continued support to the Fire Department and most importantly the well being of his fellow brothers. Rest in peace Brother Dick Nordenberg.

I'll never forget the day Cheri and Todd got married and Mr. Nordenberg's tuxedo ripped. He made a telephone call to the tuxedo company informing them they needed to deliver a tuxedo to the church; the guy on the other end of the phone was obviously having difficulty understanding directions of how to get to the church. (This was 1984 and there was no such thing as MapQuest or GPS systems). Mr. Nordenberg exclaimed; "It's the church with the big steeple, You can't miss it!" It was hilarious; I guess you had to be there. Everyone laughed because we were all trying to get ready for the wedding. Mr. Nordenberg was well known in our neighborhood growing up as kids and he was always known as a well respected man. He will be greatly missed. With deepest sympathy to the family.
