Richard Ortelli Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 28, 2025.
Richard (Dick) T. Ortelli

88 years of age and resident of Northampton (formerly Allentown), went home peacefully to be with his family and Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 25, 2025. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Betty) A. Ortelli (Reimer) for 63 years at the time of her passing in 2020. He was born in Allentown, Lehigh County, to the late John B. and Margaret A. (Ziegler) Ortelli.

A 1953 graduate of William Allen High School, he was a co-owner with his brothers at Reliable Auto Body in Allentown for all his working career.

Dick was a current member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, both in Allentown. He was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the former Italian Club in Allentown.

Dick, fondly known as "Dad" & "Uncle Dick" loved to travel, especially to the Viking Motel on Long Beach Island and Wildwood to wear his 'cutoff' shorts, play miniature golf with Mom (Aunt Betty) and enjoy a drink (or two). He also treasured spending time with his family and friends (holidays, picnics, parties). Family was very important to him and was grateful to have such a wonderful and loving family on both sides. His final wish was that everyone could think of a fun time that was shared with him and raise a glass to all the memories made, for in the end, we all become memories.

Surviving is his son, Ric Ortelli, and his wife Pat (Dilliard) of Northampton; brothers-in-law/sisters-in-laws, many nieces/nephews and extended family on both sides. He was predeceased by his parents, wife and brothers Albert (Jean) and John A. (Anna) Ortelli.

Services officiated by Father Patrick Lamb will be at 10:30 am on Thursday January 30, 2025 in the Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Blvd. Whitehall, PA 18052, located one block south of the Fullerton Ave exit of Route 22, where his viewing will begin at 9:30 am. Private interment will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Whitehall. Memorial contributions honoring Dick may be presented to The Sanctuary at Haafsville - 901 Nestle Way, Breinigsville, PA 18031 or online at The Sanctuary at Haafsville - Donate (thesanctuarypa.org)
