Was in Section D-47 with Rick at Squadron Officer School saw him at the Air Force Academy, I believe, after I retired and he was still on active duty. Enjoyed knowing him at SOS and while there, he took a few of us up flying. Good memories!

Family has gathered for an unveiling at my father's resting place. It's been just over 13 months since he passed. I'll always miss him and wish he were here. I focus on the full life he lived, the lives he touched, how his passion, enthusiasm, intellect, and caring shown through in everything he did. His legacy lives on with my, mom, sister, me, his siblings, other family members, friends, coworkers, students, and the many other lives he touched.

I had the privilege and pleasure to fly with Rick on several occasions during my years at TAS, from regular BFRs to check-out in the flight school's Diamond Star. He was extremely knowledgable and highly entertaining, and I have great memories. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

A few years ago I Rick helped me to realize a life-long dream to become a pilot. We spent many hours together in the cockpit, and many more swapping aviation and engineering stories. Although I didn't know him as long as I would have liked, he had a huge impact on my life, as he did for so many others. He'll be sorely missed. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and to the many people whose lives he touched.

My dad was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, U.S. Air Force officer, pilot, instructor, friend, mentor, and leader. He cared about his passions of family, friends, flying, military service, teaching others to fly, and singing. He will be very sorely missed by all the lives he touched. Dad, I love you so much and I will miss you terribly. Your spirit lives on with your family, friends and all of your flight students, military associations, flying associations, and religious choir associations. As you used to say, you had the 'Right Stuff'.

I will always remember the flight lessons and flight reviews with Ric over the years. He helped me gain the confidence I needed to complete acquiring my PPL in 2004. To have flown with Ric was a pleasure and an honor as he had so many hours experience in so many aircraft including my own. My condolences to the Poch family and the aviation community whom all of which will surely miss his friendly smile and pleasant demeanor.

My 15-year-old son took lessons for the last year from Rick. He was my son's mentor and like a "flying grandpa" to him. He loved Rick. I thank him for the time and attention he gave to my so. We send our thoughts, prayers, and loving light to the family of this wonderful and loved man.

To Rick's family:
I had a flying lesson with Rick on March 23. I had not flown a plane for 60+ years. Rick was wonderful, kind, fun and I had a great flight with him. He was very patient with me, a 92 year old who wanted to experience flying again. My daughter and I met Rick and we were impressed with this cordial, wonderful man ! We are so very sorry for your loss.

The shock of the news of Rick's passing cannot be described in words. Although, I only knew him for the last year and a half, I felt we had an immediate bond. That was the person he was. Warm to everyone he met. There was never a time that I did not see him with a smile. I am sure he will always be with us making sure we fly straight. Ira S.

Rip Col, he dedicated his life to helping others persue their dreams.... worked long hours for little pay....
