Richard R. Leighton Jr.

Richard R. Leighton, Jr. 40, of Bremen, passed away unexpectedly in his home. His life began in Niles, MI on December 22, 1981.

`Richard is survived by his family William W. McFarland and Chris, Jayr, Jacob, Caleb, Alyssa, and Myleigh Tolbert of Bremen. Along with his mother, Phyllis M. (Bridges) Thompson of Paw Paw, MI, sisters, Summer M. (Blanford) Tolbert of Rochester, IN and Amber, Joe, Karlie, Aubrie, and Gracie Snedaker of Edwardsburg, MI and a multitude of great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Shannon (Bowen) Fraga.

He earned a Master of Science from Purdue University School of Technology. Richard had a natural talent for understanding technology and a passion for helping people. He combined those through his career in the medical field. His career culminated at Orthos Inc as Vice-President of Technology.

Outside of work Richard loved spending time with his friends and family, camping, hiking, playing frisbee golf, and golfing. He particularly enjoyed PC gaming, traveling, and singing with Youtube videos. He loved his dogs, cats, and bird. There was not a stray that Richard turned away.

Visitation for Richard will be on Sunday, September 18th from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home "Southwest Chapel" located at 23421 State Road 23, South Bend. The funeral service will take place on Monday September 19th at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow at Potato Creek Cemetery in North Liberty.

Richard was well loved by many and will be greatly missed.
