Richard Ranttila Obituary
He was born Jan. 11, 1956, in Warren, Ohio, the son of Paul and Phyllis (Shirey) Ranttila.
He received his early education in Ohio and attended Ohio State University.
Mr. Rantilla served in the Army and was a retiree.
Prior to joining the military, he was a history teacher and then he worked at Price Chopper in Bennington.
Survivors include his wife, the former Karen Barriere; three children Amanda, of Salem, Massachusetts, Emily, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Jacob, of Bennington; a sister, Robin Moyer, of Ohio, and a brother, Jack Ranttila, of Illinois; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, where a calling hour begins at 5 p.m. prior to the service.
Private burial will take place in Warren, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.

My condolences are extended to Rich's family.
The time I had working with him put a smile on my face. He was a military man who served with honor and he loved his country and it's traditions.
I especially enjoyed our banter of Beatles trivia.

I had the pleasure to know Rich for just a short time. He was a man who loved his family, and his country. With his stories never ending, working with him was fun. Many words can be used to describe him but I feel that to sum it all up, he was a good, proud Man. Thank you Rich.
