On April 10, 2013, Richard Raymond Repka, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer at the age of 73 years young. He is now at peace and left no job unfinished. Richard will be forever remembered and loved by his children, Shelley (Blake) Willard of Okotoks, Darren (Marilyn) of Edmonton, Brian (Anna) of New York and their mother Florence Sowinski of Edmonton. Also by his three sisters and two brothers; Helen (George) Lukawenko of Edmonton, Patricia Repka of Edmonton, Christine (Nick) Lazaruk of Smoky Lake, Orest (Fran) Repka of Alberta/Texas and Clarence Repka of Edmonton. He will be missed by his special lady friend, Marjorie Krueger of Alamo, Texas and cousin Lawrence (Lorna) Repka of Calgary, Alberta. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends in Canada and the United States. Richard had a vast career as a plumber, pipe fitter, mechanical contractor, project manager and as we liked to tease him "jack-of-all-trades" which took him to various job sites throughout western Canada. In 2002 he retired and spent the summers in Alberta then enjoyed the winters as a "Winter Texan" in Alamo, TX. His stories, jokes and chats will be missed by family and friends from near and far! The family would like to extend our heartfelt Thank You to; Dr. Tanya Murynka and the Sarcee Hospice staff in Calgary, Dr. Van Dyke, Dr. Jessica Simon and Unit 81 staff at the Foothills Hospital, Dr. R. Sinha at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Dr. Edward Gee of Sherwood Park, plus numerous family and friends that reached out to him during his illness. In lieu of flowers the family would welcome donations to the Carewest Sarcee Hospice, 3504 Sarcee Road S.W., Calgary, AB, T3E 2L3. A private family celebration of life will be held at a future date.
