Richard Robert

9 years since his passing, and Rick's legacy carries on in my life through the difficult decision he helped me reach at Early Birds in 2003. His caring ear, his experience and hope, and thoughtful wise counsel were key to my making an important choice, and my quarter century anniversary this year is proof of his effectiveness. Thanks Rick - til we meet again.

I was so sorry to hear about Richard's death. I have not seen him in a long time and did not know that he was ill. My sincere condolences to all of his family and will keep them in my prayers to give them strength to continue without him.

We often didn't have a lot of time to share throughout the years but when we did talk he always end up saying something to me that was very wise. I will miss you.

I played sports with Rick for many, many years...fastball with Dorval Records and then J.C Gauthier. It was Rick who taught me how to play the game properly. Rick was also a very good QB and we enjoyed many successful seasons together in the Gordie Lawrence league.
Rick taught me many life lessons during those great times together.
I consider him to be one of the most loyal friends that I have had over my lifetime.
Although we did not keep in touch over the last few years I would run into Rick occasionally and when time permitted we would go for coffee together to "catch-up" and to reminisce about "the good ole days" sharing many laughs together...I had great admiration for Rick's leadership abilities on the playing field as well as his competitive spirit.
Off the field we went through some troubled times together and I like to think we helped each other throughout those difficult times.
I was aware he had been battling this terrible disease for many years and yet I am somewhat shocked to learn of his passing. I would like to pass my condolences along to his entire famly.
I will miss Ricky...but I will never forget his smile and wink.

Very few people in my life ever called me "Sweetie," but Rick did. He was one of those guys who had the charisma that made him an instant friend to all. his uplifting spirit and ever-present humor traveled with him all through his life and his recent struggle with cancer.
I will miss him -- I already miss him: he was a mentor and a friend.

It was my good fortune to have experienced Rick's wacky sense of humour, his spirituality, and his phenomenal courage in living as he did knowing what he faced. Rick had lots and lots of friends because he knew how to be one. To everybody who loved him, especially Ly, Rick Junior, Brian and Shaun, my sincere condolences.

Rick was a very long term friend where we first met at one of the greatest turning points of each of our lives.
We always seemed to of had so many things in common. I'm so very grateful to have had him in my life.

I seldom saw Rick without a smile and a ready laugh. He was a great source of inspiration as he continued to live each day to its fullest. I remember him telling me last year, as I started my own journey with this disease, that attitude is everything. And he was right. I'll never forget his support, and will continue to carry this the message of hope to others.

Ly, you and your family are in my prayers. This is a sad time, and yours is a grievous loss. Rick left a legacy of hope, though, and I am grateful for having had his friendship in my life. May your good memories of him help at this difficult time.
