Richard Saleeby Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 11 to Sep. 13, 2023.
Hypoluxo Island, fl - With heartfelt remembrance, we bid farewell to Richard Edward Saleeby, a man whose presence left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Richard's journey through life was defined by remarkable achievements, steadfast dedication, and boundless affection.

Armed with an undergraduate degree in Accounting from St. John's University, Richard navigated academia with a resolute spirit that would come to define him. His journey continued at St. John's Law School, and in 1954, he joined the esteemed members of the New York Bar, marking the beginning of a distinguished career.

Adventure called, and Richard answered, donning the uniform of the Army's 11th Airborne Division. As a paratrooper and JAG officer, he faced challenges with unwavering courage, leaving behind a legacy of camaraderie and unbreakable spirit.

Returning to civilian life, Richard pursued his Masters of Taxation at NYU. It was during this time that he chose to trade New York winters for the warmth of sunny Florida. In Palm Beach, Richard's private practice became a bastion of legal expertise, earning him a reputation for sharp thinking and a keen wit. Certified in tax law, he made a lasting impact on the legal community, garnering accolades over five decades.

Richard's steadfast devotion to his Catholic faith was the guiding force in his life, anchoring every step. His faith wasn't a mere part of his existence; it was the heartbeat that carried him through life's highs and lows.

To friends and family, he was affectionately known as "Dr. Saleeby," a testament to his ardent advocacy for health and nutrition. His passion for vitamins and natural remedies enriched those around him in more ways than one.

At the center of Richard's world was his beloved family. His 59-year marriage with wife Shirley was a testament to enduring love, and an inspiration to all who knew them. In his daughter Amy (Brett Russell), he found a kindred spirit, and in granddaughters Brynn and Blake, he discovered the greatest joy of his life. His memory will be cherished by his dear sister and confidante, Yvonne Salloum, as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom he held close to his heart and loved deeply.

Service was Richard's calling, and he gave generously, leaving an enduring mark on countless lives. His legacy of kindness, compassion, and a touch of eccentricity will forever reside in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Monday, September 18, at 12:00 PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Catholic Charities, an organization close to Richard's heart.

Saleeby imparted so much wisdom in me. I was just barely 20 years old when I went to work for him. He taught me resilience and to be strong before I even knew that I needed to be strong. He was the kind of person that leaves a lasting impression. Through out these years I have never forgotten him and I will never forget him. My condolences to his family.
