Richard Anthony Salvatore

Richard A. Salvatore, 63, entered into eternal rest on May 13, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents, Lupo and Christina Salvatore, his brother, Ralph Salvatore, and his ex-husband, Al Gino.

He is survived by his siblings, Louis Salvatore (Aleyda), Maria Bugliaro (Andrew), Matthew Salvatore (Patricia), Nancy Rodrick (Mark), Gina Puchinsky (Serge), and Lisa Jaramillo (Fred) and sister in-law Colleen Salvatore. He had many nieces and nephews, 2 great-nieces, and 1 great-nephew.

Rich grew up in Jersey City, NJ. in a large, Italian family. He attended St. Joseph of the Palisades High School in West New York and St. Peters College in Jersey City. He started his banking career at the age of 18 at Crossland Savings and worked for various companies over 30+ years, including HSBC, which brought him to live in Hong Kong, Washington D.C, Virginia, California, and North Carolina. While living in NJ he became active at All Saints Episcopal Church in Hoboken. Being a very spiritual person, he loved being part of their Oasis community.

He loved deeply, having entered into two different committed relationships that lasted over 20 years each and led to civil unions, first with Albert Gino and then later with Robert Flatley. Rich loved to laugh, often quoting classic TV shows like I Love Lucy He enjoyed reading, cooking (and eating!), working with his hands, watching TV and movies, and learning Italian.

After his retirement, he continued to periodically work on a contract basis, bringing his Anti- Money Laundering expertise to those same banks. He also started his own small business as an independent contractor/handyman, where he further explored his love of fixing and refurbishing homes. He enjoyed traveling to visit his dear friend, Tom, in Maine, and his Godson Louis and his family (Jen, Miley, and Matt) in California. He lived his final months in sunny Florida, but New Jersey (Jersey City, North Bergen, Little Falls, Rahway) was always home.

May his new home in the eternal light of our Lord bring him peace.
