SCHMAELING-Richard P., peacefully at home in East Meadow, N.Y., on April 12, 2004, at the age of 76, and a Navy Veteran. Beloved and devoted husband to Dorothy for 54 years. Devoted father of the late Richard (1998) and his wife Rosemary, the late Kevin (1983), loving father of Paul and his wife Dolores, Florence Bidwell and her husband Richard, Peter, Michael and his wife Claire, Dorothy Amoruso and her husband Robert, Theresa Riccio and her husband Thomas. Richard was blessed with 17 grandchildren and the late Laura Ann, and 3 great-grandchildren, Sean, Caitlin and Kiala. Richard was a graduate of RCA and NY Technical Institute. He worked for Sperry Gyroscope for 16 years, then for the Nassau County EMS for 31 years and retired in 1991. He was a member of East Meadow Fire Department for 47 years. A member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree 2852 New Hyde Park, also a member of the veterans of foreign war, East Meadow post 2736, and a member St. Raphael RC Church in East Meadow. Reposing after 2pm Wednesday, at Charles J. O'Shea Funeral Home, 2515 North Jerusalem Rd. (exit 25N SSPKWY), East Meadow. The veterans of foreign war and the Knights of Columbus will have a service on Wednesday night and Firematic Services, on Thursday Night. Funeral Friday 10AM, at St. Raphael RC Church, East Meadow. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury. Family will receive friends Wednesday and Thursday 2-5 and 7-10PM. The family requests donations to Hospice Care Network, 900 Merchants Concourse, Westbury, NY, 11590.
