Richard SCRIVER Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 15, 2021.
With heavy hearts we announce that Richard "Rick" Scriver passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2021 at the age of 66. Rick is survived by his loving wife Betty of 44 years. Rick will be forever remembered by his children Rich (Christina), Matt (Jennifer), Melissa Dea (Jeremy) and grandchildren Elijah, Hannah, Noah, Evan, Gavyn, Mazlyn, Harrison, Lawrence and the late Gabriel (2012). Fondly remembered by his sister, brothers and their families. Rick had an infectious laugh that could be heard throughout the campsite. Rick took great pride in his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Rick loved hunting, fishing and his garden and streaking. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the nurses from St. Elizabeth Health Care and the PSWs from ParaMed Home Health Care for all their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. Private family arrangements entrusted to PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME (905-892-1699). Betty & family:
So sorry to hear of Rick’s passing.
Offering you my condolences. May
your many memories sustain you
in the difficult days ahead. I knew
Rick as a client at the Dentist‘s
office in which he brought his family.
He always had a smile and friendly
greeting.

Take care

Dear Betty and Family
Our apologies for the lateness of this message.
A friend in St. Catharines, sent us Rick's obituary, and we did have a call from his son, telling us of his passing. Thank you.
Our hearts are broken, for Rick was like a brother to Tom, and a very dear friend of our family. Rick was always there for those small jobs that Tom needed help with and don't forget their GREAT hunting adventures.
He will be dearly missed, but he is in God's hands now, no more suffering. God Bless you and Family, and we thank you for visiting us here in beautiful Nova Scotia a few years ago.
Our love to you all.

Through that tough SCRIVER exterior it was evident that Rick was a cream puff when it came to his family. Over the years we got to be part of the "SCRIVER PARTIES" either at Lake Rousseau or the poolside parties at Pete & Lois's. This summer of course with COVID and its restrictions we got to spend more intimate times with all of you at Pete & Lois's. Rick put on a good face and even though you knew he was struggling with his pain he continued with his jokes and humorous character. More over was the evidence of love and hugs he showed to all of his grandchildren.
As difficult as it will be at first without his physical presence and his hugs you will slowly begin to feel his love and comfort through all your great and fond memories. And knowing he will continue his shenanigans up in Heaven with those that were waiting for him.
Our love and prayers are with you Betty and all of the SCRIVER FAMILY.

Hi I’m a friend of Ashley’s, and she told me of her uncle Richards passing. I’m sorry you can’t all be there to say goodbye. Keep him close in your hearts and remember you will see him again.

I was one of Richards' Personal Support Workers.
Richard was always pleasant to be around.
I admire his determination to fight the disease that took his life.
Even when Rick knew the outcome, He continued to fight with his daily exercises and positive outlook.
I will miss working for You.
I remember one day I was working for Richard.
His grandson was helping Betty around the house.
Prior to leaving, his grandson told his Grandpa, "Grandpa I love you".

I asked Richard "How did You get your grandson to say that"?

Richard responded in a nonverbal gesture by showing me his fist.

It is these little things that demonstrated Richards' sense of humor.
