I´m sad to say I never met Richard in person even though I really would´ve liked to I just never had the opportunity. But he has written me some emails and I´m so glad that I save them. He was a good person who is so deserving of eternal peace.

I met Richard because my Husband, Donald, wanted to gamble on his birthday at Mt. Airy Casino. I don't like gambling so he signed me up to see Richard. I know Richard had hundreds of friends, and Richard became a beautiful friend to us, and was especially helpful to Donald. I want to express our deepest sympathy to Lenny @ Kathy, and to Teresa.

I met Richard several times when he was a passenger on my flights when I worked for Pan Am. He was so delightful and personable. But he was a fearful flyer and wanted me to sit with him. Every time he saw me he remembered my name. I believe he was an angel on earth. Rest in peace my friend....Gwen Van Allen

I remember when I first discovered you Richard, I was 8 years old. I've been working out with you ever since. You have saved my life over and over again. You told me that I was loved, and you meant it. You taught me to love others outloud. You helped me grow empathy. You showed me how to encourage others. If everyone loved the way you did, it would turn the mental health industry upside down and inside out. Depression would be extinct. How can we thank you enough? I so hope you read my previous posts on your page thanking you for being such an amazing human being and explaining how much you touched my life. I grew up to be a bodybuilder and a nurse. You were a big part of that, because you taught me how important it is to take care of my body. You also taught me how to love myself. I would have never known how to do that, if it weren't for you. Thank you, a million times over.
I can't imagine a world without Richard Simmons in it. All of us who have been touched by your love, will need to be your light now. You gave us so much. Every single person on this planet who has been blessed to have known of you, will never ever forget you. I've been meaning to go back to the gym, and now I am definitely going!! I'm going to put in my ear buds and listen to your sweet voice encouraging me, just like you always used to. Thank you for everything, Hugs to heaven, Richard. ~ Love, Steffy

I loved Richard Simmons "Personality"! Love and Sincere... I loved his commercial at the beginning of "Sweat'in To The Oldies" where his Mother is making COPIES of his video's... He certainly made me LAUGH and SMILE! I have "Sweat'in To The Oldies" and LOVE working out with Mr. Simmons! He was a GEM and this is a BIG LOSS! I noticed he'd even come and say HI when the Tour Buses passed by his home! He was JUST AN AMAZING PERSON! There will not be another Richard Simmons! I PRAY he knows "how much" we all loved him! I was IMPRESSED how he made personal phone calls and emails to his fans. He gave many hours to a lot of people! RIP Mr. Simmons/You are LOVED.

Richard Simmons was a positive and motivating force for self esteem, proper nutrition and exercise. I discovered his television show when I was 17 and recorded the exercise segments off his show and did them over and over in my living room. Following him on Facebook was a joy and his recent return to social media posting was something that was always uplifting and joyful. Richard went above and beyond to connect with people who needed his inspiration and instruction. I know that our Heavenly Father will remember him and give him an opportunity to live on the earth in the future in perfect health and beautiful conditions. The scriptures state that the meek will inherit the earth and that is what Mr. Simmons was, always humble and meek.

He was an inspiration to me and the masses. I was lucky to dance in his Hairdo Video, and attend classes several times a week with his Slimmons Community. He was the highest vibe person I ever encountered, and it was such magical moment in my life. My sisters and I did sweating to the oldies in the late 90´s and I actually met him once in Cleveland Ohio on a mall visit. He is missed deeply, for his generosity of spirit, high energy and his one in a million humor.

Very sad to hear that Richard had passed away. I remember meeting him in 1992 at Regency Mall in Augusta, Ga. It was so fun to exercise with him. I remember he was busy but actually turned around when I walked by and said hello to me and gave me the biggest smile. I´ll never forget that. Later on that day I talked to him a while and he gave me the biggest hug and kissed me. He was the sweetest man I ever met. It´s so amazing how he touched so many lives and helped so many people. I will miss him so much. He will live in my heart forever. Rest in Peace my sweet Richard, I will always remember you and will see you again in Heaven. Love, Melinda Michelle Garcia
