Richard Snider

Rich was as kind and supportive a person as I've met in my lifetime. Every interaction positive and welcoming.

I count his son Sean as a long-time friend and always enjoyed when our paths crossed over the years. In my days playing varsity basketball for George Mason (Meridian) High School he was a fixture in the gym and an enthusiastic cheerleader from the bleachers.

After wins, he would bring his youngest son Robbie down to celebrate with the team. I knew we all enjoyed those moments--and continue to laugh at the thought of Robbie asking how he could get those red things on his face like Nate (it was teenage acne, Robbie, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone!).

Like many of my friends parents I always wish I'd gotten to know him better, and ask those questions about his life and what he'd learned that I never got the chance to. But he's someone whose love of his family and desire to bring joy into those whose paths he crossed probably said all that needed to be said about the type of man he was. I'm thankful for the time I got with you, Rich, and know how much you continue to be loved in this corner of the world.

Uncle Dick will always inspire me with his kindness, strength, and just get out there and do it attitude.

My condolences to the family. Was a reffing colleague of Rich. He will be missed. Blessings and peace to you.

Rich and I worked together as mail carriers in Clifton,Va. He was a great friend and co-worker as we had many laughs along the way. I remember when I would go to see him referee basketball games with Sean playing, When conditions were bad to go home he would kindly let me stay with him and Robbie. I always liked that he came to Mary's and my wedding! You will be missed my friend! Rest in peace and may God hold you in his loving arms! Joe Becker

I met Richard in the 70's in Seattle. We were roommates, worked together, played hoops together, did all the things 20+ year old men should/shouldn't do, and we survived! Reconnected after we both had same age boys on different coasts. Four great road trips, one before Miami then three cross country adventures with Dick as master navigator. I'm very thankful that he had so many people to support him after his accident especially Barbara. Tremendous effort from his boys(men) and their wife's keeping him happy and alive. Richard has been my beloved partner for almost ten years. He brought so much joy...he loved watching the birds on our back deck, seeing Perry Mason and western TV shows each weekday, enjoying the Nats baseball games as an usher and fan, traveling all over and experiencing the history, food and culture of the areas. He was having lots of fun on our cruise especially watching the people dancing and having a great time.

He loved his sons Justin, Sean and Rob, their wives and his grandchildren so much. From his family, baseball and basketball official friends and old friends his gentle spirit will be missed and I will
miss him every day and was blessed to have met him and to have spent these last years with such an incredible man!

Richard was the greatest friend I ever had. I feel like just knowing him, hanging around with him, laughing and relaxing with him, made me a better person. He was such a fine human being, sweet-natured, generous, genuine, and also a lot of fun. It´s hard to believe that he could be gone, and in fact I don´t believe it - I feel him near me still, and I will hang onto that.

Richard was a special friend, classmate, team mate and a travel buddy.
One of my favorite times was when we drove across country together.

He sold me his house in Hillcrest Estates at a bargain price.
He was a treasured friend that will be missed by many. I certainly will think of him often.
Rest in peace Richard.
