Richard Sperling

Bremerton - Richard Sperling, age 94, of Bremerton, WA, passed away Monday August 26, 2024. He was born on June 23, 1930 to Leon and Opal Sperling. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1948 and attended Olympic College. He married Joyce Cronk on April 18, 1954. They were blessed with 47 years together, 5 children, and many grandchildren. He served in the WA National Guard and as an officer in the Army Reserve, for a total of 9 years. He worked as a civil-service employee for the Navy at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 35 years, retiring as an engineering supervisor in 1985, and then as a contractor to the Navy until he retired in 1992. He was faithful in church attendance and service over many years, right up to his passing. He is survived by sons Steven (Ruth) of Simpsonville, SC; Michael (Jan) of Tacoma, WA; David (Lorrie) of Nampa, ID; James (Denise) of Silverdale, WA; and daughter Susan (Aaron) Beck of Silverdale, WA; along with 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, sister Lois Ann Purser, parents Leon and Opal Sperling, and grandson David Seth Sperling. Memorial Service at Northwest Baptist Church, Sunnyslope Rd SW, Port Orchard, WA, on Thursday September 12, 2024 at 12:00 pm. Graveside service is at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Kitsap Way, Bremerton, WA at 2:00 pm. All monetary gifts/donations will be sent to Friends of Israel Ministry.
