Richard was a wonderul dear sweet man . His father Trygve was my great grandfathers youngest brother. They were both born in Norway and they were also both Lutheran Pastors. There is not enough that I can say about how wonderful my cousin was. He accepted everyone, gave his love and kindess often and inspired me to be a better person. He cared about the earh , his fellow man and he was a wonderful listener. He also was great at giving advice " even when I may not have wanted to hear it". He made me laugh so hard at times I would cry .
I will miss his wonderful stories and his incredible wit. His 74 years were full and wonderful. The last time I saw him was Thanksgiving and I brought him the home made fudge he loved so much and our families traditional 'meatballs' at the time he was not well , but he joined us at the table ate, drank and laughed . Later when I went down to see him he had been eating fudge, this of course let me know he was feeling a bit better and that he had a nice evening.I then took his dog Solveig for a walk. He adored her and hating having to let her go when it became obvious that he could not care for her. I remember when he got her and I still have the photographs of her as a puppy.
He was a fine man and although he had so many talents he was also very modest. I feel very lucky to have known him, and even more blessed to have been a part of his family. The world was a better place because he was here.
