Dick was one of the three Kappa Alpha fraternity brothers who gave me my invitation to join KA at Georgia Tech. I fondly remember the trips back to Mississippi and stopping off at Meridian to drop Dick off on the way to Hattiesburg.

I was about 6 when we went to see the space shuttle launch maybe a bit older. Anyhow, our godfather Ted "Cash" Bronson was the one who got us the VIP seats just an amazing experience. I just wanted to send my prayers to the family for their loss of a man that many looked up to. Thank you for sharing him with America snd his service to our country.
(I actually had mailed shuttle slippers to Uncle Ted and he in turn shipped them right to Dick)
Sorry for your loss and just remember to keep those memories alive many generations will benefit from all he accomplished through his life. Many blessings to the family.

I have immense respect for the Truly Family. So to hear the news of Admiral Truly was very sad for our family.
My mom was a friend of the Truly family, she had a great friendship with Mrs. Truly.
We were always in "awe" of Admiral Truly and the role he especially played in the NASA Program, and all the other commendable programs.
Thank you for your kindness to our family, and for leaving your mark on this earth. We will never forget you.

I will never forget attending the welcome home party for Astronaut Truly as a young girl. Coming from a family of modest means to be in the presence of this American Hero and Astronaut was a time I will never forget. Mrs. Truly worked with my Mom, Mary Garza and they became life long friends. Admiral Truly was always so nice and welcoming to us anytime we got to see him. I hope they both know what they have meant to the Garza family and that we love them very much. My deepest condolences for your loss and know that yall are in my prayers. Much love, Diane Garza- Sikes

Dick audited my class at Regis and we started the first class with introductions. I will always remember Dick´s modest description of his distinguished career. Condolences to the family.

Dick audited my class at Regis and as we went around the classroom for introductions, I always remember how modest Dick was. He was a true gentleman and a great American. Condolences to his family.

Only Richard´s wife and children can appreciate the magnitude of their family loss. My sincere condolences to them. I am writing as member of the last organization he lead, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Richard´s professional accomplishments as an engineer, naval officer, pilot, and skilled administrator are widely recognized. I believe his stabilizing leadership of NREL contributed significantly to our progress in all forms of renewable energy, for the sake of the entire planet. For that I am personally grateful to his family for sharing him and all of his capabilities with the nation. We shall never forget.
