Richard "Herb" Wagner

Richard 'Herb' Wagner, 64 of Esko, formerly of Duluth died Saturday, Sept. 04, 2004 in his home. He was born May 23, 1940 in Grafton, North Dakota to Herbert and LaVerne (Swanson) Wagner. Richard grew up in St. Thomas, North Dakota and graduated from high school there in 1958. He attended UND in Grand Forks. While in North Dakota, Richard worked as a truck driver for Brown Truck Lines. He moved to Duluth in 1977 where he worked for Midwest Energy Resources until retiring in 2000. Richard married Kris Leedahl Gravelle on December 29, 1979 in Duluth. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Duluth. Richard was an assistant coach for the girls youth basketball team. He enjoyed fishing, basketball and curling. Richard was preceded in death by his father and one grandson, Kyle Werner. He is survived by his wife, Kris of Esko; daughters, Rebecca Fitchner of Superior, Sheila (Chip) Gingrich of Ft. Mohave, Ariz., Tammi Wagner of Superior, and Caye Wagner of Grand Forks, N. D.; step-daughter, Jessica (Paul) Decker of Rochester, Minn.; step-son, Jason (Kari) Gravelle of Duluth; his mother, LaVerne Wagner of Grafton, N.D.; brother, Daryl (Shoneen) Wagner of Argyle, Minn., step-mother-in-law, Lu Leedahl of Superior; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. VISITATION:5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Visitation will continue from 10 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004 in Zion Lutheran Church, 2431 W. 3rd St. in Duluth. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Superior.
