Richard E. Welch

Bridgewater - Richard E. Welch of Bridgewater, MA passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a period of failing health on Friday, December 8th, 2023. He was 81.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Susan Welch (Richardson), daughter Melissa and her husband Thom Ramondetta of Bridgewater, MA and granddaughter, Sophie Ramondetta. Brother of Joan Sampson of Laguna Niguel, California. Brother-in-Law of Jane and Dale Erickson of Brockton, MA and Natalie and Nagy Webby of Bourne, MA. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Richard was born in Stoughton to Ruth Welch-Stasiewicz and John Welch and was the stepson of Edward Stasiewicz of Poland. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1962.

Richard worked for Shaws Supermarkets (formerly Brockton Public Market) for over thirty-five years and raised his family in Brockton, MA.

Richard enjoyed the outdoors, had a great sense of humor and never lost his childlike spirit. He loved his family, golf, the Patriots and the Red Sox. He enjoyed walking at D.W. Field Park in Brockton or along the Cape Cod Canal. In his later years, during his time in Bridgewater, he enjoyed sitting outside on Lake Nippenicket with his grand dogs, Sadie, Fletch and Chester.

Services for Richard will be private. Remembrances can be made through Honor and Memorial Gifts to Wildlands Trust (DW Field Park Initiative) or to the Tree of Memories supporting the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod Hospice.
