When Rick and I worked together in 2016-2020, we usually had ver early morning chats since both of us got the office around 6 am almost every morning. There I knew Rick had a huge collection of classic cars/vehicles . He often told me about what vehicle he was working on and what he had done over weekends. We often chatted his Duke basketball games, especially in the March Madness times.

With his worldwide experience and expertise in petrophyisicas, he systematically interpreted the well logs of all wells on University Lands available at the time. We are still using his interpretation results.

Rick will be missed. Rest in peace, my friend.

When I first met Rick, he introduced himself as "Nick Danger - Secret Agent Man", and he lived up to the fun-loving mystique that came with that nickname. I will very much miss his lectures on the greatness of Mopar and his gentle and kind company. Rest in Peace, good buddy!

I brought Rick in as the petrophysical expert at the Texas Oil and Gas Institute (TOGI). The state of Texas had collected thousands of well logs from operators on the University Lands acreage since the 1920s without a single one being analyzed. We initially focused on the Permian Basin data and unconventional reservoirs, where Rick's true expertise became evident. He ran in-house courses for University of Texas graduate students, analyzed hundreds of wells, and basically helped us bring quantifiable value to University Lands. This was huge. When TOGI was folded into University Lands, Rick moved to University Lands as well, but by then most of the hard work was done.

Over the course of this work, which took several years, Rick and I became good friends. I very much appreciated his help and in fact, discussed having him join me at the Bureau of Economic Geology in Austin in 2020. That did not happen, but Rick and I remained good friends. Rick is deeply missed. He was not only a good friend, but also, in his quiet way, a technical powerhouse who added significant value as an expert in his field. Sail-On my dear friend. I am sure we will raise one together once again.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Rick´s passing. I worked with him at Slb at the Dairy Ashford office. He was a good man & I can still hear him laughing and see him smiling after cracking a joke. He was very generous with his time & wisdom. We used to joke that he was truly a pirate. He would just smile & say "Rrrrrr!". Rest in peace Rick. You´ll never be forgotten.

Rick was a dear high school friend, very smart, witty, always up for fun and adventure. A group of us will always remember the soccer games, concerts we attended, his MGB, and our friendships.
My heart goes out to his lovely family for their loss, my thoughts are with you.
