Richard WRIGHT Obituary

Published by Monteal Gazette from Aug. 14 to Aug. 15, 2013.
WRIGHT, Richard Norman
October 6, 1925 - August 9, 2013
After a full and rich life, Norman Wright, 87, of Hudson, Quebec, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved, on August 9th, 2013 at the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence in Hudson, Quebec . Born in England to Harry & Gladys Wright on October 6th, 1925, the family immigrated to Canada in 1927 and resided in Verdun where he grew up. He lived the better part of his life in St Lazare/Hudson.
Norman served during the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he participated on active duty in the Sixth Group RCAF as a tail gunner in Lancaster heavy bombers. After his tour of duty he enlisted with the Canadian Army preparing to go back into active service. Following the War, Norman returned back to Montreal and worked in the family run trucking business until his retirement.
Beloved husband and best friend of Madeline (Holland) Wright for 60 years, Norman is survived by his two children Patricia and her husband Bruce Given (St Lazare), Rick and his wife Elizabeth Stom (Ottawa); his grandchildren, Danika, Rebecca, Nikolaas, Alexander, Ellyce, Nathaniel and his great-granddaughter, Caleigh. He is survived by his two brothers, John Wright and his wife Sheila (Florida) and Keith Wright and predeceased wife Barbara (Greenfield Park); dear friend of Lise Kennedy as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the CLSC in Rigaud and members of the Palliative Care Residence in Hudson. Their dedication and great compassion were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. Memorial donations may be made in Norman's name to the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence, 90 Como Gardens, Hudson, Quebec J0P 1H0.
A memorial mass to celebrate his life will be held at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Hudson, Quebec at a later date. Please contact his daughter Patricia Wright for further details: [email protected].

Dear Patricia,
Please accept my deepest sympathies on the passing of your father. I will always remember him as a quiet yet constant presence in our youth, his penchant for worry when you or Rickey got sick, his agreeable nature( especially towards your mother) , and his deep love and devotion of his family.
My heart and prayers go out to you all.

I remember with great fondness several 'girls weekends' visits to Patricia 's home. Those visits to Montreal inevitably ended up with at least one complete evening enjoying the energetic and entertaining company of Norman and Madeline. Great stories and wonderful hospitality. I will remember your Dad as a kind and gentle man who loved his family very much. Patricia, Bruce, Becky and Alexander, may your favourite memories fill your hearts and minds forever. Love, Brenda and Gary

As Patricia's good friend of many many years, I will remember Norman as a kind and caring individual and a loving husband, father and grandfather. My fondest memories will always be of "family" times when Becky and Alexander were little and of lots of laughter around one kitchen table or another. He was quiet and didn't like the limelight, but wasn't afraid to give his opinion when appropriate. Patricia, Bruce, Becky and Alexander - please cherish all "your" memories - he loved you dearly. RIP Norman - Norma (and Chris) Desjardins.
