Richard Henry "Dick" Wright, age 87, of Richland passed away at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo on Monday, September 11, 2023. He was born in Battle Creek on December 28, 1935, the son of Arol and Beatrice (Barager) Wright and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Dick retired from Flowserve in Kalamazoo in 2002, and previously was employed at Allen Test Products and Durametallic.
Dick married the former Nancy Sue Hinga in Kalamazoo on February 19, 1983; she survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Debbie Jokela and Cindy (Allen) Wasden; his grandchildren, Alyss (Stephanie) Salas, Kara (Doug) Powers, Logan (Kyle) Wasden and Wendi Wasden; and 4 great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents.
Dick attended and served at Radiant Church in Richland. A true outdoorsman, Dick enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, boating, camping, and eating M&M's.
The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Wednesday, September 20th at the Radiant Church 8157 East DE Ave., Richland where services to celebrate Dick's life will begin at 12:00 noon Wednesday. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue Project, 219 Peekstok Dr., Kalamazoo, MI 49001 (https://www.animalrescueproject.org/).
