When my son got his first teaching job and moved to D.C., he would don his Perrault jersey and listen to the games, called by Rick, while sitting at his computer at his apt. Rick´s voice was his connection to his Buffalo home.
He learned that people all over the world tuned in to listen to him call the games.
He was the eyes and voice of the Sabres for many who could not attend in person

As a Penguins fan, and a hockey fan in general, I am aware of how beloved Mr. Jeanneret is in Western New York, and by Sabres fans! To me, his "MayDay" call was a classic! The excitement of the goal/game situation itself gives you goosebumps, but also considering the unexpectedness of the player delivering that moment! Brad May, didn't score goals often, but that one was seismic, and you could feel that in that call! Rest well, Mr. Jeanneret.

As a Buffalo Sabres 50 plus year fan, I will surely miss hearing RJ's voice for the Sabres. He was so much a part of the game itself as he brought added excitement to hockey. There never will be another like him. RIP

I have been a fan of the Blackhawks and the NHL going back to when I was a youngster and I am heartbroken today to learn of Mr. Jeanneret. What a character he was! Always entertaining, extremely knowledgeable, and honest, RJ made watching the Sabres must see tv. Sadly, his retirement and passing deletes yet another connection to the vintage days of rock `em, sock `em hockey, which makes me feel both older and saddened. Buffalo fans were fortunate to have him in their corner, and to his family and friends I send my sincere condolences. God Bless RJ!!
