Rick was a great friend while we worked with him on the World Trade Conference Center in St Paul. He had the courage to stop the project, retain us to review it, and to ask for a redesign when he found failure. All this time he was direct, focused and decisive in managing the project.
He was a great client who became a good friend, and when I met him years later, his memory of ghis victory was still quite clear. He was a class act, and I admired him. Peace to you Rick.

Rick, you led we followed. There might be a photo of us together back around ' 68 or '69. I remember one time in St Cloud when you ran for.the seat in the 6th CD at the time , yes all the way to South Dakota and Iowa.....we checked the map and had a good laugh. We loaded a zillion signs in my truck with names and addresses to get the signs out from Willmar to Worthington and any place in between. You had to run off some place before we were done, I asked if there was any cash for gas, Jack Kleinbaum handed two twenties to me. Rick we were young then, not even 30 yet. Damn we were good looking then. Black hair, good shape and a nice smile. Well you came close to winning and did not give up. I finished college at SCSU and accepted a job in Alaska before '74. Our paths split. Years later I returned to our Minnesota roots and settled in CD8. Our paths were back on track. Both had gray hair, I had gained a few pounds but you were in great shape. You ran and won. Then away I went and now in Vermont. Now and then I think back on those days, they were when we were young. Rest. In peace good Buddy. We did well.

Rick was a joy to see. He always had a welcoming smile. I particularly enjoyed talking about politics and his perspective as to what is happening in Washington. He will be missed by LAMF and PLA organizations.

Condolences to Rick´s family on his passing.
Rick Nolan and Tommy Loland worked for United Parcel Service (UPS) at the Chicago Avenue facility in Minneapolis in 1964/1965. Rick was a student at the University of Minnesota Law School in St. Paul while I was a student at Augsburg College.
We were known as the "Nolan and Loland" team as we very efficiently unloaded semi-trailers full of merchandise bound for St. Paul retail and commercial outlets.
Rick even volunteered to pick me up for work during a very cold Minnesota winter at about 3 or 4 in the morning. I much appreciated those rides. (My old 1949 Chrysler Club Coupe was impossible to start during frigid conditions.)
Rick was an outstanding person. I was proud to have worked with him.
