Rickey L. Collins Obituary
Rickey attended West Side High School and joined the Army in 1976. Following his service, he worked diligently as a cranes man for Inland Steel.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon Collins, for 45 wonderful years. Rickey's greatest joy came from his family, especially his two children and 13 beloved grandchildren. If you saw Rickey, his grandchildren were usually close by, learning valuable life skills from their grandfather-whether it was fishing, fixing cars, working around the house, or simply enjoying their youth.
Rickey passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the age of 70.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Collins Sr. and Mattie Mae Windon; his brothers Robert L. Collins Jr., Bernard Collins, and Delroy Collins; his sister Metrice Hayes and father-in-law Oscar Hall Jr.
Rickey leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Sharon Collins; his daughter Tambree Collins and son Rickey L. Collins Jr.; his mother-in-law Mattie Irving; his brothers Wardell (Rose) Collins, Stanley Collins, and Shawn Collins; his sisters Amatullah Mohammed and Victoria Collins; his sister-in-law Iris Hall; his 13 grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Rickey's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy. His legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched.
