Our condolences goes out to Ricky's family and words would never be enough to describe Ricky, someone who has impacted our lives and who has made serving the Red Crescent more than a decade ago an enjoyable one! We are really glad that our paths crossed during Ricky's journey of life and may he rest in peace now....

Ricky is (was) one of the most positive people we have met in our lives. We remember his face smiling, willing to extend himself and be a blessing to others. He will always be remembered in our hearts as a friend who added value to our lives. It is a loss to all of us.
Our prayers ask God to give his soul salvation and strength to his family and all of us. Our special prayer for Sheue Lei for her to gain strength to face this formidable loss.
Sincerely,

Now that you're gone, we will miss your bright cheerful smile.
Now that you're gone, we will miss your glowing happy face.
To a mother, you are a gracious son.
To a wife, you are a remarkable husband.
To a sibling you are an admirable brother.
To friends and all others, you are held in high regard.
We will miss sharing meals with you.
We will miss playing games with you.
We will miss going out with you.
In other words, we will greatly miss you.
You will always be in our hearts and in our thoughts.
The memories that we have shared with you, will never be forgotten.
Dear, dear Ricky, we will always remember you with love.

I knew Ricky when I joined St Xavier's Institution in Form One - we spent a lot of time together in Form Four and Five in classes, Red Crescent, tuitions and playing online games (Arctic zMud). He was a jovial and optimistic person with a smile always on his face. I will mourn his loss as a great Xaverian is lost from this world.

Ricky, you will be sorely missed.
My deepest condolences to his family.

"I was very close with Ricky Tan in secondary school( St Xavier's Institution) plainly because he is a very simple, easy going and sincere friend. It was very easy to get along with him and easy to approach for advise, help and someone who had a lot of patience to listen to one's problem. because of Ricky,I very much excelled in my Red Crescent(uniform society) and he would always encourage me to sit for my written and practical exams for the Red Crescent in order to get myself promoted to a Lance Corporal with several badges@stripes. We were also in the same sports team@house and he would always encourage me to do my best.
It was very devastating and shocking for me to receive the news on the eve of my birthday regarding the demise of my friend and am still in grief and yet to come into terms to accept. He will be always fondly remembered by us, Xaverians and I know and can rest assure that he is in a better place and resting in peace.
To his wife and family members(parents, brother, relatives), I would like to express my deepest condolences and may god be with him and all of us during this moment and give us the energy, will power, courage and strength to accept and cope with our Dearest Ricky Tan's loss.........

Ricky was definitely a one of a kind person. I never once heard him complain about anything. He took things in stride and always found the positive in life. He would help others even when it was not convenient. This consistent selflessness and humility has left an indelible impression on me.

Well...I don't really have the chance to know much about Ricky apart from working together in Red Crescent Society during our school days. So much so, he has been a great friend, quiet and calm, never temperamental. My utmost condolences to Ricky's family . Rest in peace.

Return this man to Huma's breast,
Beyond the wild impartial skies,
Grant to him a warrior's rest,
And set the last spark of his eyes,
Free from the smothering clouds of wars,
Upon the torches of the stars.

Let the last surge of his breath,
Take refuge in the cradling air,
Above the dreams of ravens where,
Only the hawk remembers death.
Then let his shade to Huma rise
Beyond the wild, impartial skies.

Ricky was one of my oldest friends from when we were 7 in primary school all the way to high school. I remember us growing up together, heading out to get the latest comic books and hanging out at his place after school. He was always positive and willing to lend a hand. I am glad to have him grace my memory with fondness and joy - and may God grant serenity and peace to Ricky's family and loved ones as we celebrate his life and mourn his passing.

I've known Ricky since our primary school days in Penang, and ever since we graduated from high school, i barely met up with him. I could only remember the last time we met was around 13+ years ago in KL. I was truly shocked and saddened when the news broke out. All our childhood memories came rushing; I could and will always remember his smiles and his cheerful personality. May you rest in peace, Ricky.

My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Ricky was my lunch buddy after schooling time in primary school. If I remember correctly, we were in the same sports house. So I stayed back after school, and had lunch at his home, and of course, how can I forget, playing video games with him. I remember his Mom is very caring towards him and even me, during my short time at their home. Always felt welcome at his home and he was one of those who rarely speaks Hokkien. I get to pick up some English lesson while I was seeing him regularly. There were 2 more friends, Tan Hiang Teik and Nicholas Tan, who all were very close together. Once we entered secondary school, I drifted apart from the group. But those years when I was with him and the group, will always be a part of my memory always. He will be missed and I still remember how he walks with his feet stomping. Don't know if he still does that.

Ricky was a cheerful, happy soul. His smile was infectious and made everyone around him at ease. He was always so thoughtful of everyone around him. On one of my trips back to Penang with my husband some years back, he happened to be home as well. He took the time out from his family to meet up with me and my husband. What a dear friend he was. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Tan/Lock family.

We are still in shock and saddened by ricky's passing. He's like family to all of us and weekly TGIF won't be the same any more with his passing.

I recall one of our last conversations, was he was going to give his old laptop to his soon-to-born child, so that the 2 of them can play games together. And i laughed at him, saying there's newer child friendly tablets these days.

The world lost a filial son, a loving husband, a doting father, and a great friend.

To his family, i pray for strength to cope with this loss.

Ricky, you will be missed.

I was with Ricky in the same University. He was one of the best person I ever met. He had all time a smile on his face and a good word that brought comfort. I've been with him on Mt. Si, in Seattle and in Bellevue to see the Winter Celebration. I will definitely miss him... I will keep in my prayers as one of a kind. Rest in peace, Ricky.

I am deeply saddened by this loss. Ricky and I shared the same office at Microsoft for 4 years. My time was enjoyable with him being around. He was always smiling, always there to help, down to earth, and very smart. I remember, he even added me to his work machine so that I could do some test passes when I was not able to do on mine because of some hardware issues. I pray to give his family the strength to bear his loss. Ricky, you will be missed.
