Rita was among one the VERY BEST women of her generation. That generation of women lived for their children and often supported their husbands and their business interest in good times and hard times. Rita was my mother, Mary Hurley's best friend, but I am sure that Rita was considered as a best friend to a legion of women of that era. Dan was a friend to my dad, Bill, who was also an immigrant to a new country. Both men worked hard for everything they achieved, and they were supported by their wives. The Crowley household was always alive and busy with the flavor of the day in terms of what crisis the kids had got into (I remember kids falling out of the back of trucks and smoking on school property and the related consequences, quite vividly). I told Rita I thought they were rich because they always had a new couch, but years later she told me it was because the kids and their friends kept destroying the couches. Rita had a personality that was solid/calm in the face of any adversity and that had a calming effect on my mother, who was always nervous. I am SO GRATEFUL for having Rita in the life of our family. I am sure Mrs. Marron, Dan, Rita, Bill, Mary and so many others like Frank and Tom are catching up about old times and good times. I ran into Mike Modesti at St. Brendan's last weekend and shared the news about Rita, but we both took solace that all the mothers were reunited in heaven. I told Mike that his mother is proud of him (who would have thought he would grow up to be President of the St. Brendan's Advisory Board - probably only his mom). But like his mom, Rita was SO PROUD of her children and grandchildren, and as I read today, great grandchildren. As I reflect back, it was a true blessing for Rita to have been in our lives.

Rita always had a smile to share. I will continue to remember her as a warm and kind person to her family and friends. She was a dear friend to my parents, for which I am forever grateful. We are all extremely fortunate to have known such a sincere and spiritual lady. May God provide many Blessing to the Crowley family.
