Age 96, died on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Juniper Village in Forest Hills. She resided for many years at University Square 2 in Oakland, where she had an array of cherished friends. Rita was the mother of loving children, Robert of Lewes, Delaware and of Fertilia, Sardinia, Italy, Suzanne M. Rini of Pittsburgh and the late Michael and David DeMajistre, who preceded her in death, as did her husband, Michael R. DeMajistre. She will be missed and remembered by her six grandchildren, Robert and John Eric DeMajistre, Allison DeMajistre, Angela Hay, Matthew and Carlos McClintock and Monica Zubik; as well as her ten great- grandchildren. Born in 1921 on All Saints Day to Josephine and Matthew Barone, Rita was raised in Lawrenceville. She trained to become a legal stenographer. In later life, she was a legal secretary for Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, and at American Arbitration. Rita also very much enjoyed volunteering at the Pittsburgh Diocesan Archives. An avid reader, Rita especially valued the riches of Carnegie Library of Oakland. Her acumen as a wordsmith who daily solved the word puzzles in the Post-Gazette was admired by family and friends.
