I still think of Robbie frequently in the few short years since his passing. Some people make a lasting impression on you for the better; for the rest of your life and beyond. He was one such a person for me. I knew Robbie in his later years. I was his neighbor in Murray. I knew nothing of his marvelous accomplishments from a life well lived, at least not at first. He never spoke of them; only in passing if at all. I knew him as a kind, humble, genuine, sincerely friendly neighbor. At his core he was that and everything else grew out of that. I joined the Church in a large part due to his influence. His influence made me question who do I want to be like? How do I want to live my life? What is the best version of me that I can be? He walked the talk. He was a master teacher on the gun range, in the chapel and in life. He said more than once in his last days, "Well, I'm outta here." Or, "Well, I'm gonna beat you outta here." He knew where he was going and he's there now doing more of what he always did. God bless Robbie Robertson. I'm better for having known him.

I only learned of Robbie's passing today, and wish to express my sincere condolences to his sweet wife and his family. (especially Dave & Glenda whom I worked with at ZSC) I first met Robbie when I became engaged to my sweetheart, Steve Thomson. He idolized Robbie and considered him not only his boss and mentor, but more like a "Dad". My children all remember hearing their Dad tell stories of his great experiences training with Robbie and how he wanted to be just like him. I'm sure that there's been one heck of a party going on in heaven now that both of these amazing men are on the other side. I pray your family may find peace and comfort in the knowledge of our Saviors plan and that families really can be together forever.
With our deepest sympathy,
AnJalynn Thomson along with AuLora, Steven, Kaitlynn, & Jonathan Thomson

I've known Robbie since 1967 through our mutual love of service in law-enforcement, as well as our mutual love of our years of service in The Utah National Guard; mine in the Army Guard and Robbie's in the Air Guard. When I retired from The SLCPD in 1988, and became the Chief of Police /Director of Public Safety at what is now named Utah Valley University, in Orem and Provo Utah, Robbie and I lost contact for a while. However, like all good friendships we later reconnected. Robbie, as you his family obviously know, was truly one of a kind and will be missed here on earth by his many friends and loved ones. Gods speed Robbie.

Dear Barbara and family, I was saddened to hear of Robbie's passing. He was such a god friend to me during our working days at the Guard. We not only worked at the base together, we carpooled, we enjoyed church obligations, including being on the High Council together, and numerous other associations. I was always proud to have had the opportunity of associating with such a wonderful person and close friend. It has been years since I have had the opportunity of seeing him, but will always treasure the opportunities that I had of being his friend and the example that he was to me.

"Robbie" was a living example of what's good in this world.
I met "Robbie" at the age of 12,when as a neighbor he drafted me to pull targets at rifle competitions and be his catcher in softball..
He was always looking out for the other guy and had a wonderful sense of humor.
In 1970 I entered Law Enforcement where we again often crossed paths and renewed memories. "Robbie" was still the wonderful man I had known as a youth.
Men such as this never die but live on as legends.

Robbie was the one who taught me how to shoot. Rest easy brother. Condolences to the Robertson family

Words do not begin to express the love and appreciation I have for this great man. When I was growing up, outside my family, Robbie was my hero. Were it not for him, my self confidence and feelings of self worth would have been seriously impacted for the worse. He was patriotic and had a love of God and man much like Captain Moroni. He had honor and integrity and loved his wife and family.

I look forward to the time when I will see him again and we can continue the friendship and love we had here on this earth.

Barbara & family, please know that my heart aches for you, but I know that he is very happy where he is now.

I got to know Robbie when he worked for Zion securities corporation. A finer man I could not have met. He was professional but compassionate and caring I always enjoyed his warm smile and outgoing personality. It has been my privilege to know Robbie Robertson.

My father served on the bishopric with Robbie in the 18th ward. He was an amazing man. Took our scout troop out for training and let me shoot an M16. Also made me conquer my fear of heights by making me repel from the tower. THE scariest thing I ever did and only did it because of the trust I had in him. As a teenager he made great impressions on me. God bless the family.

Dear Robertson Family,

Oh so many memories of the whole family. Robbie was a dear friend and righteous priesthood holder who always made me feel as if I could do anything. My thermal underwear up the flag pole tops my humorous memories. Sitting with him and watching his dignity and wisdom displayed at city/school district coordinating council meetings tops my civic memories and watching how he loved his Barbara and kids tops everything. Duane and I love you all so much and very so very sad to not have Robbie around for a while. A truly great man!

My 1st experience with firearms was during my academy training back in the late 70's and Robbie's patience and exceptional instructor skills were the only reason I passed. I'm eternallly grateful to him and will miss him dearly as an incredible trainer and a friend.

Dear Robertson Family,
So sorry to hear of the passing of Bishop Robertson...he was quite the guy...never forget going repelling off the towers and going to the movie theater on base. He also had one whopper of a soft-ball fast pitch. I can remember riding in that "bucket" of an army jeep. I remember him helping the transition from the Murray Stake to the Murray Utah North Stake. He was a great man and the right man for the job. You want things to get things done call on a "military man" to get er done. But most importantly he was a great man and friend and has touched many lives for the good.
May God bless you all at this time.
You are in our thoughts and prayers

love,

Losing Robbie is like losing a member of my family. I will always have fond memories of our family trips together, the outings and the baseball games at Murray Park. Our families have been linked for so many years and I have such love and admiration for both Robbie and Barbara. I will greatly miss Robbie.

Robbie was our neighbor and my Scoutmaster in the late 60s. Despite my whining and sulking he successfully pushed me into the Eagles' Nest. The things he taught me and my friends are numberless. We went on countless hikes and campouts- and I never remember Barbara saying a cross word abt all the time he spent w/us. During the Vietnam conflict he imbued us w/patriotism and love of eternal principles. We learned our knots, how to pitch a tent, shooting and gun safety but most of all a love for our God, Country and Family. What a great and wonderful man. He will never be far from our thoughts- and always in our hearts.

Robbie was my Senior Master Sgt. at the Air Guard, one of my firearm instructors at POST, a mentor and role model for me. He will be truly missed. May the Creator bless and watch over all his family during this time.

We will help keep an eye out for your beautiful wife who is also of strong characters as yourself. Love Keith and Suzette

I resently reconnected with Chief Robertson, reflecting on the time we served together in the 151st Security Forces (Police) Sqrd. In my 26 years in that squadron, Robbie was hands down the best chief I worked for. For a period we wore black baseball style hats emblazoned with our shield. Because of our professional and stern SAC stance, we were called "Robbie's Black Hats." Though it was meant as a derogatory name, we wore it with pride. No one crossed the Strategic Air Command SP's.
God bless you all, and know he loved you all so much.
Semper Securis Chief.

The Air National Guard was made great by great Americans like Robby. It was my pleasure to know him, to admire his style and caring for all that served. For his service to us Murrayites he will always be appreciated and remembered. I am sorry I will be out of town for the funeral but please know of my condolences and best wishes for the family,
