Robbie Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 18 to Nov. 19, 2022.
Robbie Beathard Smith

1934 ~2022

- Robbie Beathard Smith was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother during her almost 88 years of life. She was born to James and Mavis Beathard and the youngest of 7 children in Huntsville Texas. Her family was poor but very faithful in the Baptist church and hard working. Robbie learned to work, serve others and love God at an early age.

She graduated from high school at 16 and started attending Sam Houston College right after. She moved to Houston where she met her loving husband, Curtiss who was there for flight school in the United States Air Force. Robbie joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints while there.

Robbie and Curtiss were Married October 10th, 1956 and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple February of the following year. Curtiss received his flight wings and they moved to Bountiful Utah.

In 1958 they had their first son, Ken, who was born with Cerebral Palsy along with other challenges. Her next 2 sons, Paul and Lynn, were born a year apart; both 3 months premature and only lived a few hours. Ron, who is the only surviving child, was born a year later.

She enjoyed camping with her family, making crafts but the majority of her time was spent in service to God and her family.

She served 4 missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband in Spain, Switzerland, Washington D.C. and in the Salt Lake Temple, translation department. She was an assistant matron in the Swiss Temple and secretary of the sealing department in the Jordan River temple.

She has 5 grandchildren and 8 great grand kids. They have been one of the greatest joys of her life!

She was always a tremendous advocate for the down trodden and minorities and gave freely to those in need. She was the consummate mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed!

Her funeral will be Tuesday, November 22nd, 11:00 am with a viewing from 9:00-10:30 am. It will be held at the LDS church located at 1244 W, Chavez Dr. (9700 So.) South Jordan. Interment to follow at Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
