Robert Barchi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 25 to Nov. 1, 2022.
Robert (Bob) Barchi, son of the late Anthony and Ada (Fay) Barchi, drifted peacefully to his next adventure on October 15, 2022, at the age of 84. In his final moments, he was surrounded with love by his loving wife Carolyn and his wonderful children Mitch, Steve and Maria, who he adored and loved deeply. He came into the world on October 28, 1937, in NYC. His education began in the NYC public schools, graduating from Mt. Dora High School in FL in 1956. Bob proudly served four years in the USAF at Lake Charles Air Force base, Lake Charles, LA, as a Sentry Dog Handler. Keno, the German Shepard assigned to him became his nightly partner protecting the base perimeter amongst other duties as assigned. He was honorably discharged in October of 1960. In 1961, he came up to VT to work in construction with his father. While there, he met the love of his life, Carolyn (Martin) at the Grand Union store, where she worked in her senior year of high school at Rice Memorial High School. They married at St. Joseph's Church in Burlington, VT on Oct. 6, 1962. They started their life in Ft. Lee, NJ where Bob worked for National Airlines at Kennedy Airport. They moved out to Manhattan Bch, CA in 1964 when he transferred with National as a senior station agent at the LA International Airport. In 1978, they moved to VT where he worked and retired from the University of Vermont in Police Services in 1995. When Carolyn retired from Fletcher Allen Healthcare in 2006, they moved down to Leesburg, FL where Carolyn still resides. Bob was a voracious reader, whose interest lied in world history and became quite knowledgeable in many areas of current affairs and historical facts. His favorite newspaper was the weekend NY Times. Travel became his second passion and got the opportunity to travel to visit family and numerous B&B's and Inns with Carolyn around the country. They also enjoyed trips to various parts of Europe and booked Viking Cruises after retiring. Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years Carolyn, his wonderful children Mitch (Kris) Barchi of Flower Mount, TX, Steve Barchi of Bristol, CT and his daughter Maria Barchi Braune (Stephan) of Roswell, GA. His delightful grandchildren Thomas (Leanne) Barchi of Keller, TX, Amanda Barchi of Ft. Worth, TX, Matthew Barchi of Bristol, CT, Stella Braune of Roswell, GA and Lennon Braune of Roswell, GA. A brother Thomas (Pam) of Mc Cormick, SC, a brother in-law Clement (Virginia) Martin of Leesburg, FL, a sister-in-law Elizabeth Gilligan of Barre, VT and nieces and nephews. Bob will be buried with military honors at the VT Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, VT on November 10th, and a Celebration of Life will take place at the Charlotte Senior Center, in Charlotte, VT on the 11th of November at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to one's favorite charity, or the American Heart Association.
