STAYTON - The morning of August 8, 2011 we all said our final goodbyes to a wonderful father, brother, friend & colleague – Robert "Bob" Bartels.
The son of John & Marjorie Bartels, Bob was born in Minnesota but moved to California as a young boy where he grew up, attended college, and worked in the accounting department at Disneyland. He moved to Oregon in 1977 where he raised his children & worked for the State Of Oregon – a career he was very dedicated to. Bob was an avid golfer and bowler. A long time member of the Salem Golf Club, many people enjoyed his company there. We will all remember his timely remarks that brought laughter & smiles to many. Even in his final hours he was keeping his family laughing. Bob was a great man who will always be dearly missed. All who knew him were truly blessed to have had him touch their lives in some way. He is survived by his brother Terry Bartels, daughter Andrea Shepherd, son Joshua Bartels, grandsons Terran & Payton Bartels, and soon-to-be grandson Asa Shepherd who is due to arrive in October. Private family services will be held at a later date.

He was always "Bobby" to me! When we were kids and had gatherings at Grandma and Grandpa Haug's house (usually Christmas and Thanksgiving) we had great fun except for when he thought it was funny to tackle my feet and tickle them! Meany ;) Memories like that will always be cherished

Our thought and prayers are with Bob's family. Bob was my cousin and I can remember going to his parents home back in Minnesota many times for family get togethers. You will be missed.
